Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
This is a great sock. I tried the REI "everyday" Merino wool sock expecting wonders, but it was very fuzzy, sweaty, and hot compared to this sock.
While I realize in California, our temperatures are not extreme, I can wear these socks under a pair of meshed running shoes in 90 degree weather, do work on my feet in those same shoes without getting uncomfortable, and have my feet at a comfortable temperature riding a motorcycle, with no wind shields for the legs, at around 70mph in about 50 degree weather, not accounting for wind chill!
Their temperature range is very wide, and very central. I like convenience, and not having to switch from colder cotton socks in the hot day time to warmer merino wool socks for riding or walking at night is very convenient. There is also the added odor resistance Merino offers, so they're really perfect for me and my busy lifestyle.
I would highly recommend you try these, if you are at all enthused by socks!

Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
I tried 4 types of light hiker socks. Just ok in my opinion.
For all fairness I think I just truly favor plain old white cotton tube sock with a supported arch. No I donot have very sweaty feet.
All socks of this type make my feet slosh in the boot until they are at like half life. Then they feel ok. I personally get that right out of the bag with the old white tubes.
I do like wearing them around the house for a couple of months till they flatten out/thin out a bit.

Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
I have three pairs. Love the look but hate the fit. They're way too tight on my calfs. And I'm not a heavy guy. I weigh 140 (5'10") and have normal to thinner-than-normal calfs. I pity a heavy person who would have these. Too bad, since they look so good, and haold up well with lots of washings.

Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
I've tried allot of socks. merino wool smartwool socks, synthetic thorlos, even exotic Swedish Woolpower socks. For myself I find the higher concentrations of merino wool too warm, makes your feet sweat, but doesn't wick fast enough. The same is true of the synthetics. I think REI got the combination right on this sock. It is warm, comfortable, snug without being too tight, wicks like crazy. And dries really quick. I pair these over Wigwams gobi liners even though they wick well enough without. Bought my second pair a few minutes ago. Hope REI keeps these around for a long time.

Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
Although nice looking and good fit in the foot, the top portion fits snug. Not uncomfortable when I put them on, but after several hours, my flesh is constricted underneath the sock, and bulging (swelling) above it. I now store them at the back of my sock drawer for short-term use only.

I bought two pair of these socks (the taupe and the olive colors). They are quite comfortable and keep my feet dry and cool in the summer and dry and warm in the winter, or as much "winter" as the Bay area gets. I wear them when trekking around taking pictures and they've held up very well.

Comments about REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew Socks with PrimaLoft Fiber - Men's:
These REI Hybrid Light Hiking Crew socks performed wonderfully on my entire 2,663 mile Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike. Each pair lasted 700+ miles, averaging 20+ miles per day in the hot deserts of southern California, snow in the High Sierras, sharp volcanic pumice in Oregon, and rainy, wet trails of Washington. I wore these socks without liner socks, in non-waterproof mesh trail running shoes. My feet stayed comfortable and blister free. These socks dried very quickly after fording streams. As a long distance thru-hiker, I found these socks to be and excellent value for my money. I recommend these socks to anyone who enjoys hiking trails while carring a lightweight pack. Suggestions: To get a snug, supportive fit, I buy a size smaller then my shoe size. For example: Medium sock size in a Large shoes size. I dry these socks on low heat to preserve the fit. Excellent sock!
