Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's - '06 Closeout:
I love this jacket, a really sharp and smart design!
In addition to the qualities that I wrote above, it's also durable against an 80lb rambunctious young lab making a full frontal charge with its paws bouncing off my chest.
It's been tried & tested in both moderate rainy and windy fall weather the day that I received it. I stayed dry inside and may consider the makers pants!
The jacket stretches like spandex and functions best for those who prefer an athletic fit and full upper body movement for outdoor activities. As I do a lot of outdoor documentary photography, carrying heavy equipment in a backpack, this important during a whole day outside.

Well stated about durability! I too have a large dog that consistantly puts his mitts on my jacket without compromising its integrity. The only time the jacket has not held its water repellant factor is in a DOWNPOUR. The fit is great and allows for ample mobility. It works well in both mild and extreme conditions due to its breathability and ability to work as a great mid layer. I have a 2003 and a 2006 both work well as an all condition jacket or pairs well to make one. I have used this jacket on its own winter camping, hiking, biking and X country skiing. Make sure you wash with revivex if you are a chronic clothing washer as you will wash away the gore's water repellant.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's - '06 Closeout:
It's the perfect soft shell, not to bulky, not to warm. I wear it over light long sleeves 1st layer for added weather protection but then throw a North face fleece jacket over it and stay very warm in 35+weather. I do not recommend it as a warm layer by itself but with added layers for the environment you are it is a durable jacket and light weight with great mobility.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's - '06 Closeout:
This is a nicely designed Jacket that looks good and does protect well from light rain and wind. However this is not the Canadian made version. This is probably the first iteration of the Chinese made versions of the Gamma MX. I do happen to still have an old Canadian version and comparing the two I do see subtle differences in the finish. Not a biggie but still important nontheless. So I am now using my old Arcteryx sparingly and using this new one as my everyday rough n'tough coat.[...]

I was always curious if Arc'Teryx products were really worth the price. Finding a 2006 jacket on sale for[$], I decided to try it out... and I couldn't be happier. Spending most of my time either in the woods or trekking to class in the gloomy Pittsburgh climate, this coat fends off high winds, rain, and cold. While I have not tested the jacked in a torrential downpour, I am extremely satisfied with its resistance to a light/moderate rain. Wind and cold weather are no match, as I am perfectly comfortable on a 35 degree day with nothing but a short-sleeve shirt and my jacket. I look forward to testing this jacket on the slopes. As of now, I couldn't be happier.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Gamma MX Jacket - Men's - '06 Closeout:
Complete agreement with Dread Knight... I have a 70 lbs. Airedale that continues to put his mitts on me with no damage to the jacket. This has been a multi purpose jacket for me. Backcountry X-country skiing, winter camping, rainy spring camping, all have tried to take their toll on both my MX jackets but both a 2003 and a 2006 look like new.
It was previously stated and true:
The jacket stretches like spandex and functions best for those who prefer an athletic fit and full upper body movement for outdoor activities.
I would recommend this to any outdoor enthusiest as either a mid layer or active outer layer based on the epic adventure you are on! I would not recommend this to the person who is buying it purly for a "winter jacket" as this is not its intended use. AWESOME JACKET!
