The K2 DarkSide skis were meant for one purpose: blazing through bottomless powder during adventures in the backcountry.

  • Epically proportioned 128mm waists create excellent flotation and easy handling when laying first tracks though untouched bowls
  • Extremely lightweight aspen and paulownia wood core produces a natural flex, allowing the ski to achieve full contact with the snow throughout the turn
  • Triaxial braiding wraps an interlocking fiberglass weave around the wood core providing torsional stiffness, responsive turning and high sensitivity
  • Held base to base, skis bow apart 10mm at the ski-to-snow contact point at the tip; rocker extends 20cm in from the contact points
  • 10/20 tip rocker initiates turns easily and adjusts the shape of your turn at will, and normally cambered tails increase speed in powder and enhance maneuverability
  • Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski—more aggressive in the tip, less aggressive in the tail
  • Powder tip places the widest point of the ski further back than on other K2 skis, resulting in predictable performance in variable backcountry conditions
  • Hybridtech sidewalls blend the performance characteristics of sidewalls with the forgiving flex of cap construction in the tip and tail
  • Hybridtech offers responsiveness and power underfoot and maintains smooth initiation and easy exits from turns
  • Includes tip and tail holes that facilitate setting ski anchors, attaching skins (not included) and building a rescue sled; remove plugs from skis with a flathead screwdriver
  • Flat tails make it easy to set skis in snow during backcountry techniques, and notches in tails help skin clips stay centered
  • Designed for 90% soft snow and 10% variable snow
  • Requires bindings with wide brakes
