The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
I like Planet Bike lights and computers but I can't say the same about this pump. I tried it for a couple weeks and it's just plain tough to use. It's hard to attach the head to the valve, hard to lock to the valve stem and hard to pump. Not that stable either. I returned it no problem. But like I say, I like Planet Bike's other stuff.

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
I lost 2 brand new tubes because the head of the pump holds the valve stem too tightly. When trying to disengage the head from the presta valve stem, you have to pull so hard that the stem rips from the tube (and this type of damage is irreparable). As another reviewer mentioned, I injured my hand pulling so hard. I returned the pump to REI for a refund.

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
I've used this pump several times in the few weeks that I've owned it. In this hot climate it's necessary to check tire pressure before every ride. I'm always below the level I should be. It operates easily and is stable. Attaches no problem and I haven't had any pop offs. I used to have the Joe Blow, this was cheaper and so far very comparable quality. Plus it has the "love handle" Makes me smile everytime I see it! ;)

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
Do not purchase this pump. Spend a few extra dollars and purchase a higher end pump from a supplier other than Planet Bike . I have tried two different pumps as well as a replacement head and the design is flawed. Just yesterday, I tore the presta valve away from the tube trying to release the head. I had even gone so far as writing to Planet Bike and returning one of heads for evaluation - no response from them at all. Save yourself time, money and frustration - avoid this product.

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
Bought his pump for my wife to use with her road bike, but she was unable to inflate her tires due to the pump's instability and the excessive pumping force required. When I tried the pump, I found it much less stable and far more difficult to pump than my Specialized Air Tool pump. In addition, the pump head did not seal on my non-threaded Presta valve stems, although it does seal on threaded stems. Very disappointed because I have been very satisfied with Planet Bike head-light and tail-lights. May work better with mountain bike tires with Schraeder valves.

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
At first, I had trouble getting the dual head to attach to the valve. Then I figured out what I was doing wrong: you're supposed to push the lever down to unlock it and pull it up (so it's pointing straight out) to lock it. It's the opposite of a quick-release lever.
Since I figured this out, the pump has worked great! (The instructions could use some work--maybe an illustration or something.)

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
At first, I had trouble getting the hose to attach/release. Then I figured out what I was doing wrong: you have to PULL the lever OUT to lock the hose to the valve and FOLD it IN to release it. It's the opposite of a quick-release handle. The instructions were vague (and written in small type), so I didn't read them carefully.
As soon as I figured this out, the pump started working great--for both Presta and Schrader valves. Just pull the lever so it points out--push in the valve until it clicks--fold the lever back in--and you're good to go!

Comments about Planet Bike Comp Floor Pump:
The current 3 star average on this pump is just about right.
I wanted a floor pump, but since I'm not sure how much I'll use it, I didn't want to drop a lot of money on one right now. This one is inexpensive, has average ratings (better than others that I looked at in its price range), and has features that I wanted like a good, readable gauge. Since I expect it to get fairly light use, the fact that it's made of plastic doesn't really bother me. If I find that I use it a lot and that it doesn't hold up well enough, I can always invest in a better one later. For now, it seems like it will do what I need it to do.
That being said... The reviews about this one being hard to attach and remove are, unfortunately, true. I quickly discovered a few things that help with it. First, the lever to lock it to the valve operates in pretty much the exact opposite way from what I expected. When it's down, it's open. When it's up, it's locked. So at first, I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't attach to the valve, then discovered that I had the lever set the wrong way. Second, if you just try to pull it off when you want to remove it, you're bound to be frustrated (this may be why some people are reporting damage to their valves from it). Instead, if you push down on it (loosely enough that you're not holding it down), the air pressure will pretty much push it off. The unfortunate side effect of this, of course, is that you lose a small but measurable amount of air from your tire while removing it. I've found that pumping the tire up a little high (a few extra psi) can make up for this.
I've only tried it on my bike, which has schrader valves, so I can't speak to its performance with presta valves.
Would I recommend it? That's a tough call. If you do a lot of biking and expect to use it a lot, it's probably worth dropping the extra cash to get a better one. If you're a casual biker like me who will only use it from time to time and you don't want to make a huge investment, it's probably worth considering.
