The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
I bought this shoe as a replacement to a pair of Merrell's and wore them on a recent trip throughout Ireland. The shoe looks great, fits my wide foot well (I normally wear a size 12 but needed a 13 in this shoe), handled torrential rains without leaking, and went on numerous hikes. This shoe is more comfortable than my Merrell's and my Keen sandals. The vibram sole is sturdy and absorbed rocks and other trail irregularities. This shoe is not quite a business casual shoe but I am thinking I can pull it off this winter as long as there is snow on the ground. The shoe is more suited to cooler weather and although it does vent, when the temperature gets into the mid-70s and higher, the shoe gets a little warm. I would not recommend this shoe if you only live in warm climates. I was skeptical that any shoe could replace my Merrells but after wearing the shoe for a month, I have a new favorite pair of shoes.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
I bought these as a fresh pair for some hard-core hiking and climbing in the Adirondacks, to climb 3-5 of the big 46 peaks. I wear a 9 in most hiking shoes so I tried on this 9 and it fit great in the store. I wore them around the house and light usage for about a week to break them in. Very comfortable.
However, these shoes run VERY wide. I wear a d-width shoe and these were still too wide (see photos - tightened to the max). I had to tighten the laces and far as humanly possible to keep the rubbing to a minimum. I wore thick Thorlo hiking socks and still had trouble.
Great traction on slick rocks and steep surfaces, but the width ruined them for me. I'll use the for casual only now. For hard-core hiking and climbing, I will go back to my 6 year old Scarpa's.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
They have a funny shaped toes, so they run about 1 size too big. They are fantastic shoes: vibram soles, pigskin uppers, good design, and waterproofness!
They will probably last a bit longer than my Keens, which seemed to wear quickly.
I love the big stable heel, often only found in motion control running shoes. The heel is leather lined, so it slides easily against your socks and will not wear thru.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
Bought these because I needed a shoe to wear during the winter to work, but didn't want a full-out winter boot. So far, in the torrential rain we've had, they've been fantastic. I've also got arthritic feet, and these are the first shoes I've been able to find that allow me to walk pain-free all day. I've worn them every day for the past two weeks, and I love them. I work in a very casual office, and I can pull them off with a decent pair of khakis.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
I went to my local store to try on the 10.5 and 11. Unfortunately, all they had was the 11. The length was perfect, but I had the pull the laces so much that the sides where the laces went through almost touched each other. I gave them a try, not sure why, and had to return them. While I was returning, a 10.5 was available to try on. The width of the shoe was now perfect, but the length was a half size too small. I've never had a problem with a shoe being too wide, but this was the first. Other than that, it was a very comfortable shoe. I would recommend this to a friend, but make sure to fit them carefully.

I bought these to use as my winter shoes. They work great as long as they don't get soaked or the temp is not above the mid 50s. I love them and wear them everyday.
They do need to break in. Mine rubbed my heels raw until the first week or so, I just wore heavy cushion socks.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
I don't understand why 90% of shoes out there have that classic "Nike pointed toe". Our feet are not pointed. Okay, some peoples are, but most people do not have pretty little pointed feet the shape of wing-tips. This shoe may be too wide for some people, but if you have a wide or somewhat wide, square shaped foot you will love this shoe. I put these on, and they felt like slippers. Very comfortable and do not crowd your toes.
I needed a mid-weight shoe; something I could use for farm and general off-road use on a day-to-day basis. I have a pair of Asolo's for heavy packing and rough physical work. They weigh a ton, but they work a ton -- so I have the heavy-boot category pinned. I used to have a pair of North Face day hikers (forget the model), but they blew out. These Teva's are leather, and to top it off they don't have anything neon on them. I'm not trendy, and if I were, I still wouldn't want any neon on my feet. They don't have any chincy light-weight nylon or mesh -- they're leather. They're brown. They're comfortable.
I did notice these shoes have a much "softer foot" than my North Faces; meaning, you can feel the ground a bit more and they do not have that stiff sole. If you want a very stiff sole day hiker, you won't like these. I like to feel the ground and feel the shoe conform a little bit (not a lot) to the earth, rocks, logs, etc.
If you need a brown, leather, waterproof mid-weight shoe that feels great and you like to trek, walk, light pack, or just go outside, then buy this shoe.
and there's no neon on it...

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
These shoes are really great. Super comfortable, they look good, again Really comfortable, good vibram sole, great all around shoes. I tend to have a wide, high volume foot and these were perfect for me. The eVent worked really good, I never had them wet out, even when walking through streams, however...
I took them snowshoeing near RMNP on a sunny spring day in April and after an afternoon of slogging through slushy snow in the hot sun they had completely wet out on me, like soggy socks and all. This was a bummer, but I'm not sure the eVent is really capable of withstanding a full afternoon of constantly melting slushy snow. To compound the problem, I was camping overnight, so I had to dry them off with a towel in camp and sleep with them in my sleeping bag to keep them from turning into ice cubes. The next morning the leather uppers hadn't fully dried (though they got close). Again, the next day they fully wetted out after the morning snowshoe back out to the trail head (again with constantly melting slush on the shoes all morning). Luckily I had an extra pair of dry shoes back at my car...
I would say I pushed them to the limit and beyond, obviously these shoes aren't designed for snowshoeing and it was probably stupid of me to use them for such, so I can't exactly blame them for wetting out, I just won't trust them to keep me dry in a wet overnight situation again... But they are great for everyday use in wet and wintery conditions. Haven't had a chance to hike in them in the summer though. They seem like they would be hot to hike in.

Comments about Teva Riva eVent Shoes - Men's:
Bought these while in London for 2 weeks from a store that was their version of REI. The style I have is all black w/ red accents, not the brown.
The waterproof eVent is excellent and a solid competitor w/ GoreTex for a reason. It rained nearly every day while in GB and the shoes kept my feet dry as a bone. The generous toe box allows comfort after my feet swell from walking all day, and the rubber toe guard is extremely durable.
They can get a little warm depending on the activity, but my feet still feel comfortable when I pair the shoes w/ a pair of lined WrightSocks. Also, the shoe strings are really thick and durable, but the thickness can cause them to come undone if you don't double knot them.
Overall, an outstanding every day/light hiker.
