A tough, low-cut light hiker, the Keen Skyline WP kids' shoes deliver waterproof, breathable protection and plenty of support for little feet setting out on some of their first big trail adventures.

Leather and nylon mesh uppers offer ample durability, flexibility and breathability for comfort on the go

These shoes had the potential to be great. My son absolutely loves them, and wore them 5-7 days a week. The shoes are comfortable, provide great traction, and have sturdy soles. However, the design of the lacing system is flawed: too much friction is applied to the top loop, which is itself made of a strap which runs down towards the sole of the shoe. All 4 such loops on my son's shoes frayed and broke, and had to be cut off lest they dangle and create a tripping hazard. Furthermore, the laces themselves frayed. I had to remove the connector, trim down the laces, and tighten them up to deal with the fact that the top loops were missing.

I'm looking at the Hi-Tec Redondo EZ WP Jr. as a replacement; they use metal reinforcement for the top loop (a good choice for a high stress point).

As a mother of four, we have been through our share of Keens. All my kids have wide feet and I appreciate that Keens fit them well. For active children, I like to buy them good quality footwear. However, the quality of this brand of Keen has been a big disapointment. Like another reviewer, the bungee straps don't last. They have broken on our last four pairs. "Fixing" them is no small task as they are more complex than a pair of regular laces. This shoe, however, had more than the bungee break. I bought this shoe in both colors for two of my boys. Both had the laces break as well as 1" in diameter holes wear through on the sole underneath the toes within FIVE months! I expect a pair of [$] shoes to last more than 5 months. For it to happen to one pair, I may question my son, but to happen to both pairs on two different boys is too much of a coincidence for me. This shoe, although stylish, comfortable, and wide, wears out to quickly for the price. Very disapointing.

We are a Keen Family...our 3 yr old has wide feet and it was hard to find shoes in his size. We brought him in and tried these Keens on him and he LOVES Them!! He has been in them for over 5 months now (bought little big to grow). They still look NEW!! No strap issues, very durable, looks great!! Now buying the next size up in the same Shoe!! They are a WINNER!!
