The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
I gave this four stars for the simple fact there is a lack of external pockets and accessory storage. Otherwise, this is an amazing daily use bag with a lower profile.
First the good:
This bag conforms and carries well. I mean really fits your back. The straps are top-notch as well. None of this foam wrapped in nylon junk like most others - the straps are built and ventilated just like those on Osprey's outdoor packs. I've carried two laptops (personal 13" Macbook in sleeve and 15" HP for work) with their chargers along with a nice stack of documents and a textbook for a couple hours through D.C. and never once felt any stiffness or discomfort.
I will also say that on the bike, this bag does not slide around (when using the sternum strap). I ride a very aggressively setup road bike and even leaning way over, it's not trying to slide up my back like so many others have in the past.
The bag swallows everything I need without being overly bulky - the reason I chose this bag is its thinner profile. 90% of the time, I'm carrying a computer, textbook, and a folder for each work and school. This handles it perfectly. The rest of the time, I can add the work laptop and it fits snugly, but without stressing the bag.
My biggest complaint about most laptop bags is excessive padding as it adds bulk and stiffens the bag. This bag has a slightly padded divider inside the bag (no separate compartment) so it can lay flat when you're not carrying a computer. This makes it a great bag for clothes when I head up to the girlfriend's place for the weekend.
And the bad:
There is only one truly external pocket - down the right side (when wearing the bag). It's deep and opens high on the bag making it difficult to access when you swing the bag around. If I have to take the bag off to get to an external pocket, a wider, shallower pocket on the flap (which has no pocket inside or out) would be preferred. I think a small pocket low on the side of the bag would be best. I like to keep things like my work badge and keys in my bag when I'm just walking around and this is a slight inconvenience with this bag.
I could understand no external pockets if it were a weatherproof bag but while it keeps everything dry in heavy rain, it's hardly waterproof and had to dry out for a day or two after a good storm.
Also, there is a lack of accessory and electronics storage inside. There are two small pockets inside and a place for a few pens but I work in IT and often carry portable hard drives, cables, a mouse, and a Kindle and these just have to be thrown in one of the larger pockets. A few extra mesh pockets inside similar to REI's messenger backpack would be welcome.
All in all, this has become my commuter whether it be by bike or riding the Metro. The lifetime warranty makes me think I'll be using it for a long time.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
takes a laptop, netbook, power supplies, and extra layer of clothes with no problem, plus my bike helmet when going into a restaurant/bar. thumbs up. the padded lengths of the shoulder straps are on the short side for tall folks and the lowest point on the sternum strap adjustment is still a bit too high, but it's still way more comfy than any messenger bag i've tried

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
This is my EDC bag for the office. It holds my laptop, power adaptor, water bottle, coffee thermos, some papers, and assorted whatever quite comfortably. The straps and back are extremely comfortable, even when the bag is loaded down.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
It took me forever to find a laptop bag I could live with. I wanted a bag that was well-organized, protected my laptop from the elements, and didn't scream "laptop bag." This bag fits the bill. I'm thrilled with it. There's tons of room inside for cables, books and other stuff. It fits comfortably on my back despite the fact that I'm a 5' tall woman.
My one complaint about it is that the clasps for the straps are attached directly to the flap instead of being attached by straps themselves. This makes clasping the bag shut a little tricky. However, I'm willing to live with that since the rest of the bag is so great.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
I use this bag every day. Whether I'm carrying books and my laptop between classes or going on a quick day hike it does the job with flying colors. It's very comfortable and looks great. It does have too many straps on it for its size, but the non-essentials are easily removed. Overall I'm very happy with the Osprey Flapjack.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
I looked high and low for a backpack to carry a new macbook pro 17" and ended up choosing this one. I just got this bag today and ABSOLUTELY love it. If you're looking for a laptop backpack, look no further. High quality and fits 17" laptops easily, yet is not too bulky. Padding is a bit thin but there's enough room that I purchased a the 16" Built sleeve and it fits no problem.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
Very solid overall performance especially in a commuter setting. Does not move all over the place when you biking up hills and have to stand.
However - I am hesitant to use it for air travel - My biggest complaint about the Flap Jack is a lack of an external pocket on the flap. In order to get at anything (like a reservation, your newspaper, etc.) you must open the whole bag up. I suppose you could use the side pocket but it much better suited for computer cable and charger cable given its long and narrow profile.

I bought this product for commuting to work. I find that it's large capacity is great for holding my change of clothes and everything else that I carry and it fits comfortably and securely during my ride. I also chose it for it's bright coloring which will make it me more visible during the day.

Comments about Osprey FlapJack Pack:
For years I carried a messenger bag, needless to say I love them! One nice open pocket, a few others not a ton of zippers. I carried a messenger bag all through high school and while living in Albania. A while ago though, I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror and noticed my left shoulder was lower than my right thus triggering me to give up my precious messenger bag for another. I chose this because this resembles a messenger in so many way and you can't go wrong! Tons of space, easy access, feels great! I love it. It holds everything I need for school, work, my day and travel! I would highly recommend this bag.
