Comments about Everest Designs Everest Glomitt Convertible Mittens:
Pros,
*Warm (Still warm down around 0 degrees F in snow)
*Breathable (hands stay consistently warm, never overly hot or clammy with sweat, which ironically just makes you colder when not moving)
*Dry very quickly and still insulate just as well while wet (have used in snow and rain, while snowshoeing, hiking and bicycling)
*Not having to take off gloves in low temps when more manual dexterity is needed is priceless, and saves from having to spend extra energy re-warming
*Surprisingly wind-resistant(one minor issue with thumb flap)
*Darn attractive winter-wear (matching Everest Designs fleece-lined wool ear-flap hat, for which I can speak equally high praise)
*Makes holding cup of(insert hot beverage here) just that much more enjoyable
*Fun and functional gifts for family, especially with a variety of designs (no twinkies)
Cons,
*Being wool knit, small sewing repairs possibly needed if snagged (certainly not leather gloves in terms of durability, but after a full winter of use and heading into some chilly fall days now, they still look great/work exceedingly well)
*Thumb flap tends to not fully close over thumb, and thus a bit less wind-resistant where the knit doesn't overlap or seal (really a minor issue)(conversely, the finger-flap works perfectly, both buttoned back and closed over the fingers)
*If not for the thumb-flap issue, not being multi-functional enough to use it for tasks that require more durability, and the knit inhibiting the construction of a perfect snowball, this glove would have five stars. I hate to give it fewer.
