After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Jaunt XX Women's Bike - 2010:

I initially bought the bike just to get a bit of excercise, as a casual recreational rider. It wasn't long after buying my bike that I became an avid cyclist (or so I like to think). I am now riding this bike 20-30 miles a day, 4-5 days a week, loving every minute of it. At 46 yrs old, I hadn't ridden a bike in years, and I think this bike is partially responsible for my new addiction of cycling. I am certain that I will soon be graduating to a mountain bike, as my skills increase and my weight drops. I am only 5 ft tall and the XS frame is perfect for me. I love the gel/foam seat. I am certain I will never need all 24 gears, I usually keep the bike somewhere between gears 12-16. This is sufficient for riding into the wind, up small hills and cycling all around. I do like the option of using the gears to increase the peddling resistance for a good strong workout. The only things I have added was the front and rear fenders to keep me clean and dry while riding in the rain or through puddles and a water bottle to keep me hydrated. I also added a $20 bike computer that I love. It tells me my mph, miles traveled, calories burned, time elapsed, top speed, and average mph. That is a great tool for challenging myself, ie... one more mile, or 100 more calories, etc. This bike is so lightweight, I toss it into my trunk and head to my favorite trails. I can lift this bike with one hand. Buy this bike and you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Novara Jaunt XX Women's Bike - 2010:

I purchased this bike as a "beginner" cyclist. I wanted something of a similar style to what I'd had in my youth. It is an attractive, lightweight bike.

My first outing was yesterday on a mostly level limestone packed bike path. I found it difficult to control. I believe it is due to the posture it puts you in and the curve of the handlebars. After a few miles, my wrists were in agony because of the way you must tilt them outward. It was a 15 mile ride. Today I can hardly type this from the wrist pain. Another negative is there were no holes to install a water bottle on the bike.

I think this bike is great for short rides on smooth level surfaces, but wasn't the bike for me and how I intended to use it (distance biking for exercise and fun). I took it back and exchanged it for a Marin with straight handlebars.

Comments about Novara Jaunt XX Women's Bike - 2010:

As with all of the REI in-house items, this bike is a terrific value. When you check out the specs and compare to other brands, you really can't get a bike close to this quality even near this price point.

I just wish the style was a bit more cohesive. It's almost retro-looking, but not quite. Its almost beachy, but not quite. Kind of modern, but not quite. It just misses the mark when compared to competitors in terms of the details---paint, grips, seat, fenders (there are none), bike rack (again, none).

I think REI is missing a great opportunity to compete with other "Dutch", town and beach bike brands because of this. More flair!

I feel this about the entire Novara bike brand in general.

If you are looking for fenders or a rack, the Electra townie white fenders are a perfect match. And the Electra townie basic rack fits. I went through two racks which didnt meet at the screw points on the frame at all, even with some bending.

Comments about Novara Jaunt XX Women's Bike - 2010:

Used love to bike but hadn't done it in about 25 years, so it was important to start off slow. It only took me about 3 times on the trail before I felt very comfortable on this bike. It easy to shift and transport because it is light weight. I've had many compliments on the snazzy look. Ps I will turn 70 in two weeks.

My wife and I had never had nice bikes. We decided to take the plunge and get his and hers bikes. The Jaunt is a great bike to ride for people who don't care to be leaning foward while riding. Nice upright bike that even an out of shape guy like me can ride for miles. [...]

It has been 15 years since I last rode a bike and this model is indeed perfect for getting back into the saddle! I am 5'3'' and the xs/s is just the perfect, comfortable size for me!

The design is a head turner and the seat is comfortable enough for leisurely riding.

I have had the bike for only a few days and so far, there is nothing I do not like about it!

Comments about Novara Jaunt XX Women's Bike - 2010:

I wanted a bike that didn't make my back and shoulders ache, so I looked for a woman's bike with the upright handlebars. Then I decided to run a triathlon and used this bike. I put skinnier tires on it and that helped a lot. But the upright position seemed to work against me in getting speed. Not sure if I'm going to treat myself to a new bike yet this year or not. Put a new saddle on it - couldn't stand that white one that came on it. Added a water bottle holder towards top, but not a good place for one. Got lots of compliments on its appearance. Nice bike overall, but my needs have changed a bit.
