The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Organic Spinach Puttanesca - Single Serving:
My girlfriend and I went backpacking for 3 days and took 2 Backpackers Pantry meals. So far I had only had good experiences with their products, but this one was absolutely NASTY! If I could give it ZERO stars I would, but the website makes me give it one.
It smelled kind of bad coming out of the bag. It had almost no flavor, except for bitterness and a bit of spiciness, and it lacked salt. We were starving from hiking 9 miles, 2000 ft elev. gain with packs, so we doctored it up with a bit of salty spice mix I had brought along. It didn't help much. When I got out my second serving, still hungry, I almost couldn't eat it anymore, I thought I was going to puke. I even asked my girlfriend "do I have to eat this?" and she said we would have to pack it out if we didn't. So I forced myself to eat it to lighten my load. We both just thought it was gross. Even after having tea and brushing our teeth, we still had a bad aftertaste.
For two really tired, hungry backpackers who would eat pretty much anything and think it was gourmet to say this was horrible food, it really must be unbelievably bad. We were happy we got the bad meal out of the way on the first night and decided Ramen would have been about 20 times better. The second night we had their Biscuits and Gravy, which were really good.

I'm not sure why the bad press on this, but I tried it for the first time when hunger outweighed taste buds, and quickly the taste buds were satisfied as well. It's not quite a Puttanesca, but the flavor was good and I'd definitely take it again.

This was my first dried meal by this company. Putanesca is my favorite preparation, so I chose this particular meal. It couldn't have been easier to fix. Tasted great. I agree with other reviews this pkg needs capers and olives, (not quite putanesca without) but that may be a supply problem regarding organic versions of those items. I ate right out of the pkg so the trash was minimal, even less than my usual Company selection. I was pleased with the Company and this specific meal. Will do again.

It is a great dinner, good carbs for those long hikes! It tastes great and has a nice spicy kick to it. I've bought this for several trips now, most recently for my summit on Mt. Adams. Very flavorful and should leave you with just enough room for desert.

I'm not certain why this particular meal has gotten such bad reviews, but, an a meat eater that goes for more vegitarian fair and as a "foodie", this really is delicous! One reviewer commented the sauce should have capers, olives, etc., but, as you may expect from a dry meal, they usually do not include everything. It is filling and has a decent protein count. You could even have this with a glass of wine and meat on top and it would serve as a gormet-style meal...

When I first used this nasty product I was hiking on the Long Trail and I had a pretty strenuous trek that day. I got to my camp spot for the night and was very excited to try a ready-made meal for the first time. But I was very disappointed. Once I got it cooked, as soon as I opened the bag it smelled like vomit. Then once I tried the food, it made me want to vomit! It was both spicy(IN A WAY THAT'S TOO OVER THE TOP) and plain out yucky! Never again will I try a pre made meal.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Organic Spinach Puttanesca - Single Serving:
This was very spicy, and while I like spicy foods, Puttanesca sauce should have the following: olives, capers, and red pepper flakes. This dish tasted like it was just pasta, tomato sauce, and red pepper flakes. You could see the spinach, but there wasn't too much and th e hotness overwhelmed the spinach flavor and I couldn't taste any olive (green or black) and zero caper taste...

If you like really spicy flavors, this definately has that! I was suprised how good it was even though the spinache flavor was a bit weak. A hearty 1 serving portion! Will get this flavor again!
