Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
The other reviews of this product seem to think that this is a top-of-the-line Gerber seriously multitool! It isn't: it's a KEYCHAIN tool!
Gerber's experience in the multitool market is obvious in this design with some really smart aspects. The spring loaded pliers are great in an emergency and well worth having on your keyring. The small, friction locking knife is also handy; as is the assortment of screw drivers.
Now, the first thing I noticed with this tool is that it doesn't have the usual, Geber lifetime guarantee- it has a year. There is a good reason for this! The tool isn't the highest quality thing ever produced, but it is great value for money. You can even buy the Vise and Splice together for a better deal!
As mentioned in the other reviews, the Vise does have a number of minor design issues- most noticeably the tools being hard to use. This can be annoying but as a backup tool, I can't see it being too much of an issue. Besides, you can always prise each tool out with your key!
A nice little tool with some minor problems that let it down. Check out other Gerbers if you want better tools for harder work.

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
Was looking for a small, light multi-tool for backpacking. This seems actually way too small to even be useful esp. the knives. It is super hard to pull out the smaller tools. I have no idea why the lanyard attachment would be right at the base of the knife - that is just bad design. Haven't any other experience with Gerber products. Will keep looking for the right multi-tool.

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
The pliers just collapse... really...you can't even squeeze your finger! I thought ...ok.. must be a defect, brought them back...same thing. never owned gerber..but thought it was top of the line...it is pure junk!

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
I bought this for the pliers, but they're not very functional. Every pair of needle-nose pliers I've seen has the ridges extending all the way to the end of the pliers. These stop almost 1/8 inch from the end, meaning they don't grip very well. I'm returning them.

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
I bought this tool specifically for a guiding gig. I spent 20 days backpacking in NE OR guiding a group of 12. Guiding = heavy packs, so I look to shave weight wherever possible, so I took this tool as my primary tool. It was great, I used it almost every day for something, the knife, the pliers, it was in and out of my pocket all day. It never failed me, and I still love it.
The problems I did have were few but it's small so it can be hard to keep track of, and it's hard to clean. One of my group used it to cut cheese and it had cheese packed in it for a couple of days. These flaws are pretty minor though, and considering how small and light this tool is, not a bad price to pay.

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
I've abused my Vice in all sorts of ways. I bought it to slip into my PSK (Personal Survival Kit) and so spent a couple weeks using it. It's meant as a backup in case I am separated from my full-size tool, but I wanted to be sure I could depend on it. The non-serrated knife is hard to get out (but it does come out), but everything else comes out easily. I can crush and bend metal with the pliers. The finish is a little weak, it's scratched/rubbed in many places, but the tools themselves have held up to everything I've asked of them. The smooth knife holds an edge decently for a [$]tool.I don't get why or how people are breaking them. Maybe there is bad quality control on these and I happened to get a good one. I was actually considering getting a Slice to put on my keychain, based on how well my Vice is holding up o.O I do think it's shady to list "keyring" as a tool, though.

Comments about Gerber Vise Keychain Multi-Tool:
I bought this little tool for my keychain thinking it would be good for the small tasks that may arise. Wrong. Using the flathead driver the first time, it snapped in two. The pliers don't have much pressure at all. If you're looking for something small like this, go with the Gerber Clutch. Pretty much the same size, but much better quality and more robust.
