The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
Picked this up as an alternative to my Brunton pocket transits. The declination adjustment was easy and secure, though the manual could have been a little better. The needle seems accurate enough. Was disappointed in the mirror though. After removing the protective coating and trying to shoot some azimuths, the distortions in the mirror made it difficult. Also, when using as a clinometer, the needle binds very easily unless you have the base almost perfectly straight up and down. Basically, it is an OK compass, but could be a lot better.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
While in archaeological field school in 2001 my teachers bought us these compasses. I have used my old one up until last year, when I noticed a bubble inside from having it in my back pocket and sitting on it in the desert in 110 degree heat or the opposite for over 10 years. I bought this one as an exact replacement of the the one I've always used. Needle never stuck from the get-go, declination was easy and perfect. If you receive a defective, sticky one I would send it right back for a replacement. I must be lucky compared to some reviewers if the only MC2's I've had have been in perfect working order.

Great compass, easy to adjust the declination. I wish it had a longer lanyard.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
This was a great sighting compass for several years, I used it for field work and recreation. However, over the past year or so it's gotten a bubble inside the compass which now takes up about a quarter of the volume, which prevents the compass from getting an accurate bearing. too bad. A great compass before the bubble happened.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
I have had this compass for 3 years. In general it's not a bad compass in good weather. I have had the same problems as other reviewers in the cold. Not -30deg weather but +20deg weather. The problem is the needle sticks making navigation impossible. NOTE: this does not affect all of the MC2 Pro compasses. I have had two of these compasses side by side (snowshoeing with a friend) and his worked - mine didn't. If you buy one for the great features, place it in the freezer to test before trusting your life to it.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
I use this compass for hiking and backpacking primarily in the Colorado Rockies. It is easy to set up with the adjustable declination arrow. The numbers are easy to read. I really like the way the sighting mirror is set up for easy use. It is almost 7" long with the mirror unfolded so it provides an excellent straight edge for taking bearings from topo maps. I also appreciate the easy to read inclination arrow to help assess slope avalanche danger in the Winter.

Comments about Suunto MC-2 Pro Compass:
I don't know what some of these bad reviews are about. My Suunto MC-2DLIN works great, and I love it's construction and specifically the gear studded bezel which is easy to grab with gloves or cold hands. Mine came with 2deg East error between the compass baseplate and the bezel, but the declination adjustment took care of it... Not the best thing in the world but I can live with it.
