Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I purchased the Downtown Loft jacket on sale at REI. I thought I wouldn't be able to wear it this year, since I bought it at the end of the winter season, but with all the cold weather we've had recently, I've worn the jacket several times. I love the style, the warm hood, and the length of the Downtown Loft jacket. The medium fits me perfectly. I can't wait to wear this jacket again next winter!

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
Great jacket, but the hood is terrible. The jacket itself has a nice slim, flattering fit. The hood gives you giant helmet head. Too much down in that part, or something. It's going back.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I really do like this jacket--superlight and comfortable. Not great for outdoor activities, but the perfect around-town jacket. I would give it 5 stars except for the fact that the exterior is starting to show some wear and tear, and I've only had the jacket for two weeks. I got it on sale, but otherwise I'd be kind of upset about it. Also, the pocket zippers seem to have problems with the stitching surrounding them--stitches unravel and then the zipper catches.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
This is a great cold-weather jacket. After a few years on the West Coast, my return to the cold, harsh Boston winter required a new jacket that would keep me warm and looking stylish as I commuted around town. This jacket is perfect for that. As others have noted, you don't have the usual bulk of most down jackets, yet it's still amazingly warm. It even kept me warm in the cruel -12C (about 10F) degree cold snap we had recently. During those days, I felt a bit of cold air penetrating through the jacket in the elbow area, but that was the only area of weakness. In warmer (!) temps around 0C (32F), I don't feel the cold at all.
The fit of this jacket works really well for me. I am short (5'1") and the size small fits me well. The sleeves are the right length for me. The jacket fits well over my not-so-tiny chest and hips. By comparison, the Fiona jacket was not nearly as flattering in those areas.
It will withstand a little light rain, but of course it's best for dry conditions. The hood stays on just fine for me, though I usually have a hat on underneath and just use it for extra protection. Love the fleece-lined pockets and cuffs. Other reviewers commented on the plastic snaps - they are a bit annoying, but not a deal-breaker in my opinion. They seem to have gotten a bit easier to snap with use, and I do appreciate how they are perfectly colour-matched with the fabric.
Overall, a great jacket and I'm very happy with it.

Love it! So glad I found this jacket. Comfy and warm. I'm 5'7", 140 lbs and I bought a M.
Yes, the snaps are stiff, yes the pockets could be angled better. But those are minor issues.

I just wish it had a bit more down in it.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I absolutely love this coat!!! I was a little skeptical of the warmth factor due to its light weight, but did not fall short! I live in CT and so far, this jacket has been very warm, yet stylish! The pockets are very toasty. With the exception of the weird plastic snaps, this coat is awsome quality! Glad I made the purchase.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I've had this jacket (in the red) for over two years now, and have worn it nearly every single day for that period. It's my camping jacket, my hiking jacket, my winter/snow jacket, my going-out-at-night jacket/purse, my going-out-a-lot-of-other-times jacket, my sleeping bag pillow, my road trip pillow, my emergency rain coat... it is seriously the single best piece of outerwear I've ever owned.
It's crazy warm, but not stifling--I've worn it in temperatures ranging from 9 degrees to the low 60s (F)--and while the hood is a little awkward looking up because of the elastic, it's snug and cozy, and can also be rolled into a pretty cute looking collar when down, if you care. You can also pull it over your eyes to totally block out light for a nap! True multi-functionality. I like the cut too... the waist goes in so it's actually pretty flattering despite the puff, and it's long enough not to expose lower back/buttcrack when I'm squatting by a campfire or something. The sleeves are tight enough not to let the wind in, but big enough to feel comfortable over a thick sweater and pull down over the edges of a fat pair of mittens. I really love the red color too. The zipper pockets are super convenient, and I often use it in lieu of taking a clutch when I go out at night, since the inner chest pocket is the perfect size for my ID/credit cards and the side pockets easily fit my big android phone, keys, chapstick, and a few handfuls of other lady junk.
The material is all soft and satiny, looks/feels great, and is very breathable unlike a lot of other down coats I've tried, and is also pretty durable. Mine has two small tears (successfully patched with duct tape) from barbed wire, but it's been heavily abused by a ton of bushes, branches, concrete walls, etc without snagging. And while it isn't actually water proof, it is water resistant and it's so thick that I've managed to get decently soaked in it (like 10 minutes hiking in a deluge) without ever feeling the water reach through to the inside. And then it dries pretty quickly by a campfire/heater, too. In two years of near constant usage, I think it's lost some of its water resistance and a little bit of its down, but definitely not enough to really matter, and there have been no problems at all with the zippers, snaps, or stitching.
Also, if you fold the arms and edges in and then fold the whole thing up into the hood, you get a nice, compact, non-lumpy little bundle, which works great as a pillow! This jacket is seriously the best. I plan to wear mine into complete tatters and then get another one... probably in like 8 years, at the rate it's holding up.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
Love this, overall; only issues I have are that wind whips right up my forearms because the wrist openings have no interior wind-halting design. Also, and this is so minor I hate to bring it up, the zipper likes to nab the fabric on opening/closing. One thing I LOVE about this is how light it feels but warm it is. I also love that I don't look like a mobile marshmallow.
