Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
This is the most flattering fit I have ever had in a down coat. The 800 fill is lightweight, compressible and warm. The front pockets are lined with a bit of fleece, which keeps your hands warm even if you're not wearing gloves. I love the inside pocket, which is perfect for your cell phone, keys or small wallet. The hood has a bit of elastic in it, so it stays on your head even though there are no cords to pull. My only complaint is the snaps on the front of the coat. They tend to stick a bit and require some tugging to get them unsnapped. I have received many compliments on this jacket and I love how very soft and warm it is.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
i received this jacket as a Christmas gift and have been virtually living in it since receiving it. I am 5'7" and about 127 pounds. I have fairly broad shoulders as well and the small fits me perfectly. I have room to layer a long sleeved t-shirt with a slim fitting sweater under the jacket. I have worn this jacket now in cold weather down to 17 degrees and was perfectly comfortable. This jacket is so lightweight that I can hardly believe it can keep me so warm. It has a very feminine shape and is so flattering. No longer am I bound to my old bulky jacket to keep me warm. I can be warm and still have some shape to my body. I have the garnet color and it is beautiful (but is slightly lighter in color that the picture demonstrates). All in all this is a perfect jacket. You can't go wrong.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
Just got this coat...and there is good and bad - more bad than seems normal for Patagonia clothes.
Fit first - I am 5' 11" tall and have long arms and the sleeve length is GREAT! Jacket length is good. Fit a bit snug at bust and hips, but I am 4 months post-baby so i will be fixing that soon and then the fit will likely be right on target :) overall what I wanted fit wise and pretty flattering cut for a down. Thanks for finally making one long enough in torso and sleeve.
The good details-
There is a 2-3inch band of fleecy material just inside the wrist of the sleeve - right where your gloves end and normal jackets are chilly.
The seaming is flattering.
I like the collar and it cuddles my nick well.
The fabric overall is nice - not to loud and nice to the touch. Good color.
The bad is the details -
snaps- hard to snap and hard to pull open and LOUD.
Hand pockets - smallish (which is OK bc this is a slim fit jacket) but the real problem is that they are not ergonomic - the cut of the pocket points your hand straight down which bends your wrist more than is normal and not comfy.
Zipper issues - the main zip doesn't have the stiffener material to the sides to keep it from catching the coat in the teeth. The pocket zippers have such small pulls on them that I have a hard time with bare hands and opening with mittens is unthinkable.
Hood- wish that there was some adjustment to it - not sure how it will perform in the wind.
Over all, I think that it looks like I want it to look and fits well. However, I feel let down on the thoughtfulness of the details that make you love a coat rather than just live with it. Ironically that it is normally the details that make me so happy with Patagonia products. Will I keep it? Maybe- because long enough sleeves are so hard to find.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I bought this jacket last year on clearance and have been waiting to test it out in cold weather. We haven't had any extreme temperatures, but it's kept me warm in 20-30 degree temps. The cut is really flattering. The material is really soft and it's so lightweight. There is a zipper and then snaps to keep the flap down. The snaps are really tight and I keep thinking I'm going to rip the fabric un-snapping them. It hasn't happened yet, but I haven't been using the snaps for that reason. The hood isn't the greatest. With no ties or ways to secure it, it doesn't do much good on a windy day. A couple of quirks, but seems like a quality product. I bought this for it's flattering cut and lightweight, but warm construction. So far, so good.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I am 5' 8" with long torso. I got a Med. This coat hits just below the hips when my arms are raised, which means I will not get a cold blast of air every time I have to reach down or pick up my toddler. Sleeves also just long enough to cover wrists when arms are extended, but not so much to look too big. The cut is very flattering and flap that covers the zipper gives it a great look and keeps the wind out. The snaps are very tight and I too am worried about the force needed to tug them open. The fabric surrounding them is not reinforced in any way. I am hoping that Patagonia reputation for quality means that they tested this fabric well... (or maybe that's why it is now on sale...) NOTE, the colors on the website appear darker than the actual coat.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I'm a frequent traveler so I bought this to stuff in my suitcase without a lot of bulk. I also live in AZ and believe it or not it does get cold here in the winter. I wanted something stylish, warm, not bulky, and this is perfect. The quality is excellent although I would have loved an extra pocket inside. Also if you have a bigger bust, your regular size might be tighter when it's all zipped up. But I LOVE it and I'm keeping it. Get it!

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
Extremely warm, yet it is so lightweight and easy to wear without the bulk. I have bought a few winter coats and they just did not have the warmth and the warm ones were bulky or unflattering. I love the style because I can wear this to work, as well ask for a cold winter walk! I usually buy a medium, but bought a small and it works well - not too snug, but tight enough to not let the cold air in. Worth the money!!

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
I have been searching for a down jacket that would keep me warm, cover my butt, and not make me look like the Michelin man. So far, this jacket delivers on all three counts. It's very comfortable and soft, and the fit is great -- covers my bottom, and has stitching that makes me look just about as streamlined as I could look while still wearing the jacket equivalent of a sleeping bag. I've yet to try it in truly cold weather, but I think it's going to be quite warm, especially if I snap up the neck. I think my one request to Patagonia would be to add a cord at the neck so that I could tighten the hood a bit, but the snaps do a relatively good job of that, and I'm likely to wear a hat anyway. Overall, I'm extremely pleased. In fact, I'll admit that I have actually been looking forward to the weather getting colder specifically so that I can wear this jacket. (I will probably not be saying that by the time we get to February!)
Oh, and I'm 5'4 and a muscular 135-ish pounds (34-inch chest) and find that the medium fits very well -- I can fit some layers under it but it also looks fine on its own.

Comments about Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's:
This is the loveliest jacket I have ever owned. Tall ladies will especially appreciate the generous sleeve and body length. I am 5'10" and 135 lbs, long torso. The medium fits nicely (the small was too small in the bust). The cut fits my proportions correctly.
While some reviewers have commented about the lack of drawstring in the hood, I have not found it to be a problem. In fact, this is the first coat I have owned that has a "tall enough" hood -- it doesn't lift the coat off my shoulders when up. I also have enough room to wear a billed hat under the hood, which I often do.
Another reviewer commented that the pockets were angled down, but I have not found this to be a problem either -- I usually do not keep my hands open inside the pockets. I use the extra depth to store lightweight polyprop gloves, and it fits this purpose quite nicely. I also like the fleece lining that keeps hands in the pockets warm.
The snaps are tight, which is why I bought from REI -- I know they'll take it back if they rip. However I only ever use the top snap, and it does loosen with use.
One "con" is that the zip pocket inside is slightly too small for my regular-size wallet. I would probably have to purchase a child's size wallet to regularly carry it there. And the placement is a little awkward -- right over my chest. Thankfully the down generally renders it inconspicuous from the outside.

Perfect for the cool days and freezing nights of the desert winter. This jacket looks heavy and bulky, but when you put it on it feels very light and allows you to move freely.
