I looked a long time for a 3-season jacket that I liked. Looked at Cabelas, looked online, looked at Marmor and Arc'Terx gear, but this jacket was the one I choose. The water resistance is great, it is warm but not overly hot. It is a pretty durable fabic while also not being too heavy. Its synthetic, it would dry fast if wet compared to most jackets of its type. They improved the wind resistance and pocket design over the orginal Neo version. I have worn it for about an hour with just a tshirt on in 20 degree weather comfortably, and in 0 degree weather with a polartec medium weight baselayer on for a few hours comfortably. For me, it is a 4-season jacket, for most it is probably a 3-season, it just depends on your climate and personal tolerances.
I highly reccomend this jacket, I looked at jackets up to $300 but preferred this one due to pocket design and logo placement. I wanted a jacket with a pocket on each side of the chest, and would not settle for less. I also didnt want a big flashy logo of the producing company on the chest or on the back (like Arc'Teryx or Marmot) but will tell everyone it is a REI Neo.

This is an outstanding and versatile softshell for both casual and professional use. There is ample storage and the coat has very clean lines. I'm able to carry a fair amount of small gear very easily and discretely. The coat looks good with almost any attire. Normally, I feel like I'm overheating most of the time, but not with this coat. It is amazingly functional in both warmer and cooler environments. It breaths great on warm days, yet the soft lining feels warm on cooler days. This coat also wears very durably. I've had mine for a few months now and use it almost everyday, and it still looks new. I am 6-02, 175, with an atheletic build and the large fits me perfectly. I have this coat in the blue and green, and just ordered the black. Fantastic product. Nice work REI.

I love the 2 chest pockets, all jackets should have them (add upper sleeve pockets while you're at it). Versatility, hand warmers pockets and windblock are other features I love too. Use it on a hike and the office too, it's that type of jacket, just buy you'll love it too.

I bought this jacket reluctantly just because it was by far the cheapest at REI. However it saved my life when,unprepared,stayed over night near Taquihtz with a summer bag and was surrounded by snow patches that cooled the night way below 45 degrees. The jacket is extremely light and resistant to scrapes-I wear it at work in the middle of construction site-and still looks cool and comfy. The chest pockets are great for body temp control and stashing anything! Only regret is the color I chose : green. great for outdoors not so much for everyday. Oh yeah, last thing, it makes you look slimmer. way cool!

I use this jacket as the outer layer for my daily bike commute of about 8 miles each way. Depending on what I wear underneath I've been comfortable at temps between 45 and 10 degrees. The cut is generous so you have a range of layering options from just a short sleeve T-shirt to something a bit heavier. The lining is soft fleece and the outer layer is a sturdy nylon/spandex blend. It sheds the wind really well, and seems like it will shed drizzle with no problem. I think it's a great value.

Fit is perfect on me, and the comfort is outstanding. This is my first soft-shell jacket, and I can see why I won't be going back to fleece as a midlayer. I use this for everyday wear, for day hikes, and even for cross-country skiing on warmer days. For cold days, I throw my GoreTex shell over for extra warmth, and it performs as well as a fleece. But it wins hands down over fleece when used alone. Love the combination of style and functionality.

Needed to replace my worn flannel coat. This jacket was comfortable the minute I put it on. A lot of jackets on this website look good, but it's best to go to a store to try them on first. The large was a perfect fit. Slightly stretchy fabric and nice lining. No need to worry about taking care of it, just put it on and go.

I've looked at practically every softshell made, so I feel like I can pretty honestly say that this jacket is the best there is for its intended purpose. It isn't for hardcore backcountry, but for pretty much anything else, you can't beat the style, warmth, breathability, water-resistance, and fit of the Neo. Thanks REI
Minor gripes: Zipper pulls would be nice and please add taped zippers to the chest pockets instead of hiding them under those little tabs.

I love this jacket! It is by far the best lightweight jacket I've ever had. I used to by cheap ones from department stores but this one was well worth the price. I wear it everywhere. It looks good and it's cat hair resistant. It's warm in weather down to 20 degrees or so for me. I live in Alaska and wear it all winter long unless it's REALLY cold. I wear it out to eat, chopping firewood, riding my bicycle, on airplanes, whatever. It still looks as good as the day I bought it. It doesn't shrink in the washer either. It's one of the best pieces of clothing I own.
