Comments about Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Gloves:

This glove was put to the test this past weekend when I went on a three day ski-safari in Vermont and on Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. The temps were some of the coldest we have seen this winter, and these gloves were put to the test.

My fingers never once got cold, even in sub zero temperatures with serious wind.

The construction on these gloves is as solid as anything Mountain Hardware makes. They held up to some abuse in the trees. Even though we were in some deep snow and ice, the gloves never soaked through. The goatskin on the palms is certainly NOT waterproof, but the Outdry laminate was a great barrier- my fingers stayed dry at all times.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Gloves:

These gloves seemed promising, a nice combination of quality material, thoughtful design, and careful construction. Unfortunately the performance just hasn't been there for me. Have used them in two settings: everyday around-town strolling and out snowshoeing and xcountry skiing. Around town, with temps in the teens or single digits, my fingers are cold within about 10 minutes....and I'm talking numb finger tips or fingers, not just "Oh, my hands are kinda cold." I'd say my cold tolerance is above average, so for me the speed and extent to which the cold sets in while wearing these gloves is pretty striking. They worked fairly well when snowshoeing and xcountry skiing but I realize that I generally get fairly warm doing these activities, and hats and gloves get peeled off pretty quickly, so the fact that I can keep these gloves on while exerting myself just reinforces the conclusion that the insulation is just not up to par. Further, there is something about the lining that often makes my hands feel damp. I bet these gloves would work great with liners, but given their price it would be nice not to have to shell out another $30 or $40 just to keep your hands warm! Perhaps they'd be better when temps are in the mid to upper 20's...

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Gloves:

I primarily ski/board in the Lake Tahoe area and my hands never stay warm or dry in these gloves. Size wise I usually wear a large size glove and these are really tight. I would go with a XL if you wear a large size glove. At the end of the day these gloves are always wet and not usable for the next day.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Jalapeno Gloves:

I have had a much different experience that some of the previous reviewers... I lhave used these gloves for the last two ski seasons and been very impressed. Skied over 70 days last year and over 50 days this year. The only time i had any hint of cold were on days where the temps were double digits BELOW zero.Very durable, and always waterproof, and the cuffs have an elastic drawcord that is simple to use and very effective for keeping snow out so that the gloves dont get snow inside them....( that will make any glove wet...) I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to people and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another pair if something happened to these...
