Lightweight & comfortable

Though I have indicated above that the hat is slightly larger than expected, I would not give it an extremely poor rating just on this point (in contrast to the other review). If the sizing was off enough for it to be an issue for me, I would simply return the hat and get a different size. As it is, I like that it is slightly large as I wear it as a second hat on top of my primary cap (a highly breathable dome cap with no wind protection).

Pros:
- Excellent wind protection
- Very lightweight
- Just enough warmth for my purposes (second hat in winter and/or high-wind outings)
- rear stretch panel is comfortable

Cons:
- Just one... Among other factors, I purchased this hat specifically because of the ear patches. Unfortunately, the patches do not rest on my ears at all, making them essentially useless to me. While I'd like to think I have an irregularly shaped head, that is simply not the case. This is a real shame, because the Dome Ruinart is an otherwise excellent hat. If you are considering this purchase, I would recommend trying it on in person for both the size and ear-to-earflap fit!

I would not recommend this hat only because the main difference between it and a cheaper version by Mountain Hardwear, as far as I can tell, is the presence of the ear patches. As they do not rest on my ears, they are useless and simply add complexity and cost to an otherwise perfect hat.

        this hat is a man's hat not a woman's hat (or even unisex; the manufacturer's tags say "Mens") and the "regular" is VERY large. unless you have a large head, this will not fit.
