Great jacket. Used all over the snow in Colorado. Jacket kept a 3 year old (who is a little shorter) warm and dry. Never had a water issue and appeared water proof. The zipper in front has broken and we are going back to exchange. But the jacket is solid. Even with gloves on first, the jacket sleeves fit over, so that helps. It could be warmer and thicker for the next generation. But our 3 year old was not in the snow for more than 2 hours. So longer times may get colder.

I got this jacket after wasting my money on a puffy jacket from a big box store. The Timber Mountain jacket fits perfectly but with plenty of growing room in the sleeves and overall length. It is totally waterproof and keeps my son toasty warm. It isn't too bulky when he is in his car seat.

We live in the desert but travel up north to the mountains and to Colorado several times a year. It is a perfect jacket for snow and cold without spending a lot of money. It was a little big for my son and covered his face a little with the hood up, but it kept him warm in the 20 degrees and 8 inches of new snow.

This is a lovely jacket. The quality is nice, it seems very warm but not bulky. You can tell it would keep your child warm and dry. The color is nice and I loved the way the hood fit. It stayed up over my son's head and did not cover his eyes and fit perfectly snug. The only issue is that it fits him poorly around. He's 2 but wears a 3T everything and it is usually a perfect fit. In a 2T of this coat the length was perfect in the arms and up and down. But when I zipped it, it was tight in the shoulders and chest. And the 3T he normally wears would have been too long in the sleeves, but would have fit him around the chest and shoulders perfectly. He is about 38 inches tall and 33 1/2 lbs. And this didn't fit well in any size. It's a shame I can't buy this for him because it is a super nice coat. They should be slightly more generous in the shoulders and chest area of a 2T. I feel they need to adjust their size a bit so it fits a wider range of children. Maybe make the sleeve length adjustable in all sizes? His Obermeyer snow suit has adjustable sleeves and pant legs, so he will be using it 2 years in a row here.

I have a very active toddler that hates to have jackets or coats on. He never complains when putting this jacket on.I bought the jacket one size too large hoping to get two winters out of it. The cuffs adjust making this possible and the coat is a slim enough cut that it doesn't allow much cold air in.As usual, great REI jacket, great price (especially if I get two winters out of it), [...]. My toddler is one happy, snug, warm, dry guy in this jacket.

Although we haven't worn it outisde in the snow yet, we have tried it on around the house. And so far so good. My 10 month old enjoys the jacket and doesn't try to rip it off - yet. Also, it was easy to put on. We did purchase it a size bigger then he wears now, which is perfect for layering. As I said, so far so good!
