These pants are a much brighter, lighter green than in this photo -- more like a spring green. It does look like it would be fine for a boy, but don't expect the army green I see in the picture. They fit me well; I typically wear a Women's small or extra small (size 2 pants), but since they have a stretchy waist, I am sure they would fit a women's size 4. I was impressed by how cheap they were -- needed a pair of waterproof pants, and I was willing to pay the [$] but at checkout realized they were only [$]. Aaaawesome. The clerk at REI said they are waterproof whereas the "cheap" [$] backpacking windpants for women are not (the ones that are rolled into a tiny sack).. those are just windproof. So these are better all the way around.I was hoping to be able to wear them while traveling, rain or no rain, but I put them on and they are SUPER NOISY.. noisiest windpants I've ever put on (you know, like swish swish noisy)... but they are waterproof, so if I need them, that won't matter.

I bought these pants for my son for pre-k where they go outside every day, regardless of the weather. They did keep him dry. Velcro closure at the ankles allows the pants to go either inside or outside of the rain boots. Like many kiddies his age, he's hard on the knees of pants and both the inseam and the outside seam split, on both legs, by the end of the school year. That's why I subtracted a star. Got a second pair for kindergarten & they did the same thing. Not sure I should blame the pants, though. I have to patch most of his pants at the knees.

Who makes kids rainpants that aren't waterproof? I bought these and only noticed later that these are "water resistant", which apparently means that they soak through all the time!
