Comments about Buck Smidgen Knife:
The first thing I felt when I pulled the knife out of its sheath was that the handle had sharp, uncomfortable edges.
Anyone who has done machining before would have "broken" or beveled the edge of the handle. I would have paid several bucks more for this knife for Buck to have this done at the factory.
Now I'll have to tape up the cutting edge and tip and bevel the handle edges with a stone or my Dremel tool.
This initial disappointment with the knife is not a reflection of its performance as I have yet to use it.
Despite the biting handle, its shape allows the index finger to fit into the handout cutout and the thumb naturally falls onto the serrations on the spine to allow a well-controlled, three-finger grip.
Recommended with caveats.

Comments about Buck Smidgen Knife:
This is one sharp little knife. It is essentially a knife blank, without a grip, sharpened and put in a tough plastic sheath. The hole near the top of the handle matches a nub in the sheath so this knife won't pop out -- you have to give it a really good twist and tug first. It would make a great letter opener and a pretty excellent emergency knife for a survival kit. The attached carabiner is innovative as well -- solid and very beer-bottle-friendly. I wouldn't try to skin a deer with this one, but it could come in handy in a pinch.

Comments about Buck Smidgen Knife:
Pros = US made Quality:
Buck's 420HC steel is great stuff. Paul Bos knows what he is doing. It takes a fine edge and holds it well (for what it is). The sheath is made with quality materials as well as the carabiner. The carabiner is probably the best thing that you get with this knife.
Cons = Poor Design:
After using this knife, I have come to the conclusion that it is a novelty. There is just not enough to hold onto. It is only marginally more comfortable to hold than a blank razor blade. If you take the sheath into account, then you will see that it is not small enough to save room when compared to small folding knives. In the large world of knives there are many better designs that are more comfortable to use and still retain a small compact size. I'll leave the finding up to you.
Bottom Line: You will have to be comfortable using a blank razor as a knife for this one to interest you. I traded mine for a small comfortable folder and kept the cool carabiner.
