Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I wear these pants on most of my outdoor adventures. I wore them mountain biking in the pouring rain and water just shedded off. Also they had enough stretch I could put them on over biking shorts! I have worn them hiking and they do not bind yet look very stylish. Fabric is thin so they need an extra layer if cold. These pants have served me in Peru - hiking at high elevation and also as shorts in the rainforest at high heat and humidity - they breath well. I have also worn them on back to back 11 hour flights to India - comfort plus I still looked fresh after almost 24 hours of travelling. The waist is very comfortable and soft, the drawstring great for weight fluctuations.
I too have scrambled over rocks in these and the fabric seems to withstand abuse. These are a winner. I originally saw them on a fellow hiker and liked them so much I sought them out after she graciously undid the waist so we could inspect the manufacturer!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I have been searching forever for a pair of convertible pants that actually fits and has all the features I need. My biggest issue is that I like to wear my shorts long, and most pants zip off too short. This pant zips off right below my knee which is perfect. Also, this pant is great for curvy women who find that most pants leave a large gap in the back waistband... not only is there hardly a gap, if there was, there's a drawstring to eliminate it, AND the drawstring has a loop that it goes through right at the zipper so that the string actually stays on the pant when you cinch it up and doesn't slide off and leave your pants bulging in front where you cinched it. The cut is also flattering for curvy women. Finally, the pants have drawstrings at the ankles, which is great for someone like me who is too tall for petite, but too short for regular. I can cinch the drawtrings and they won't drag in the dirt or get stepped on.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
These pants are unbelievably tough. I wear them rock climbing all the time and I have dragged myself across a lot of sharp, abrasive rock for a year and these pants still look brand new. Not a snag, not a tear. With the abuse I put them through, any other pants would be shredded. The fabric is thin, so these are definitely summer-weight pants.
They are also great for backpacking because there are no buttons, belt loops or seams at the waist that are going to interfere with your hip belt. The drawstring is offset to the right a little bit so it doesn't interfere either. The soft moleskin lining around the waist is very comfortable.
I love these pants so much I bought another pair as "insurance" for when these are no longer available!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I am 5'2.5 and 103lbs so it is hard to find pants to fit. These fit perfectly and wear so well that I bought a pair in each color. I can't stand waist bands over my belly button and these sit right below. They are easy to unzip and roll up nicely for packing. I have worn these hiking in the Grand Canyon and in several adventure races. They are very stylish which is even better! The only negative is they have that little 'swish swish' sound when I walk but it isn't loud enough to make them annoying.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
This is too cool! I've been wearing Mountain Hardwear size 14 for two years now and they tend to get stiff, but these new stretchy ones are awesome....I forget I have them on!! I'm 5.6 and weigh 180 (all muscle) and they are the best!!!! If you order petite (under the black pant choice) they are true to size and very comfortable! Regulars must be for those who are over 5' 8" or more! They sit at my waist and are very comfortable there, even though others seem to have the fit at the hip. Don't believe the negative, these are a GREAT find! Love Mountain Hardwear, and Love REI...MH has consistant fit year after year....

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I have just a few pair of hiking pants because it's hard for me to justify paying so much for a pair of pants I only wear while doing so. I finally broke down & got these in a 6S. These are perfect length-wise, as I am 5'3" & wouldn't want to wear out the back hems anyway. I just did a 14er in them that required rock scrambling, going down a snow-filled gully on my butt, scree, etc & they flexed with my every move. On the snow, they seemed to have repelled it & never got wet.
For the cold, I would recommend wearing a base layer underneath, which I did & was fine in the high altitudes of Colorado in October. I also love the black color, I'm not really one for all the other shades of outdoors-y gear though! Very flattering cut on the waist & butt!
Overall, I will be wearing these a lot!! Highly recommend!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I am 5'4" 115lb 25" waist female. I bought it in size 2 short.
There's no natural fabric in the material, all synthetic. It has 4 way stretch therefore very comfortable when doing steep climbing.
The color is sort of soft black, not dense. CA weather is never really too hot (especially on the trails). I never got steamed wearing them. It never feels wet from sweat (I use a lumbar pack). It seems water repellent and when wet, dries really fast.
There are only two cargo pockets on the side, no front or back pocket.
The waist sits just below hip bones, pretty flattering.
It is sharp looking therefore can be worn off trail for casual business work days, traveling, and casual dining out.
I never zip off the legs (bugs love me) therefore I don't know if the capri length shorts look flattering or not. Some like long shorts and some don't; just personal preference.
I only handwash them, neve use washer and dryer (may shrink the fabric). It's so easy to hand wash (great for traveling light).
They are pricey but they fit really well and move with you whichever way you want.
The only thing is the stitching. The hem was not stitched well therefore after 4 trail outings, the thread starts to come off from rubbing. I have to restitch the hem.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
I am 5'4" 115lb proportional female and I got a size 2 in short (petite).
The color is sort of off black, not midnight black. The material is extremely nice to the touch. The soft waist material is a real nice touch (never felt wet after 13 hours on the trail). The drawstring is good if the waist is a bit loose but not to really cinch in your pants (get a smaller size if it happens).
The fit is great for my frame and size, not too long but not long enough if you want to pair it with 2 or 3" heels.
The leg portion is loose enough to add a thermo underlayer if needed for snow sports.
The waist is slightly lower than the hip bone which is trendier than REI Sahara convertible.
There is no front and back pocket but the two cargo pockets. The cargo pockets are not too big and are pretty flat when not stuffed.
The overall look is very classy, not screaming "hiker" at all. With a nice top and jacket, it looks really great for casual towning and should be super comfortable for traveling.
BTW, if you want to pair it with Mountain Hardware's Offwidth jacket in black, please note that the jacket's black is denser and darker than the pants'. (I bought both)

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
These are the most comfortable, best fitting hiking pants I have ever worn. I'm ordering a second pair! Very breathable compared to ordinary nylon. I appreciate that they come in short, but I wish they offered the full color range. My only complaint about them is the chamois lining is not dyed to match the outer fabric, and since it's not tacked down, the lining frequently shows.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Yuma Convertible Pants - Women's Short:
This is a terrific pant for hiking. The chamois lining in the waistband is soft and smooth. They sit at the top of my hip bone so they don't interfere with my pack. I normally hate zip-offs, because the zipper hits mid-thigh, but these are just below the knee, so I don't even notice the zipper when hiking. The fabric is great for northwest hiking; sheds morning dampness and lightweight enough for afternoon warmth.
