Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I liked the styling of this watch and wanted something with basic features for all around outdoor use in a variety of environments (hot/cold/watersports). It was fine for about a year and then the face got chipped and I began to notice condensation on the inside of the face. Eventually it started beeping a lot and now the digital display is blank.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
The glass sticks out just past the outer ring, but they didn't bother to chamfer the edge - so after 1.5 weeks the glass is already chipped

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
At first, I loved this watch because I thought I had found the perfect mix between the practicality of digital (alarm, timer, stopwatch, etc) and the solid looks of the analog. But the digital features were outdated (similar to watch of the 80s and far inferior to a simple Timex), impossible to read in any light, and with the display covered up most of the time with the analog hands.
Buy this watch if you are only looking for this style (which I really like). Don't buy this if you care about the digital features at all.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
Bought this watch for daily use and to hold up to the rigors of extended salt water usage while sea kayaking. Unfortunately, shortly after buying the outer timing ring broke off and there is no replacement. The inner digital faces are unreadable without the led backlight, which is only usable when the button is pushed. Try setting an alarm, or, better still, turning it off in a tent, when you have to hold the led button at the same time...never again!

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
Great day-to-day watch, loved the color and style. I was surfing with it on and hit a rock, now it doesn't work. Not the watches fault but the glass really sticks out and is prone to scratching and failure.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
I wore this watch everyday and about a month ago hit the glass somewhere and chipped the edge and now have a crack down the middle. The watch is no longer waterproof. Like others have said the glass sticks up higher and therefore gets hit more than any other watch I have owned. Lasted me about 1.5 yrs and today the band also tore so looks like it's time for another watch. If you don't bang it a lot it's a comfortable nice watch but it was just a matter of time before the glass got it.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
Great looking watch design. It is fairly understated and doesn't look like you have a plate on your wrist. My biggest complaint is that the watch glass is slightly raised above the rotating plastic piece. It catches on everything and leaves the edges of the glass exposed to chipping or scratching, both of which happened to my watch. This compromised the integrity of my watch which allowed water to get inside while I was surfing. Now it has condensation and the digital functions no longer work. Another complaint would be that the backlight doesn't stay on long enough nor does it stay on while you press other buttons. Other than that I would say the interface is no more complicated than any other watch. It's a comfortable watch and I've found I can wear it to almost any event regardless of formalities and still get compliments. Bottom line - If you're demanding of your equipment, and need a watch that you can wear regardless of circumstance, than I'd go elsewhere. I'm going to be sending this back to REI.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
This is a great looking watch but terrible for outdoor use. The digital aspect of the watch is very hard to read and the design was poorly thought out. Setting the watch was very frustrating, it's like they tried to make it complicated. Another thing thats frustrating is that the backlight doesn't stay on if you hit another button, it makes it next to impossible to set the alarm or do anything with it unless you have another light on it. Besides my issues with the design it isn't very waterresistant. On a recent trip I was crossing a steam and dropped my sunglasses. While trying to find them in 2 feet of water I noticed that my watch was beeping like crazy. Water had gotten under the face and shorted it out after being submerged in a less then two feet of water!
I must say that before it broke I did get a lot of compliments on it but thats not why I bought it. If you are looking for a watch for outdoor use DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. Thanks god I bought it at REI, it was returned for a cheaper and much more reliable watch.

Comments about Freestyle Shark X 2.0 Watch:
This is a very good watch! I read the other reviews and have not had a bad experience with mine at all.
I've had mine for a little over a year, and have exposed it to a variety of environments and situations. It's been with me in the mountains in Colorado...no problem. It's been exposed to a lot of snow and cold temps...no problem. It's been with me in the summertime Texas heat...no problem. It's been snorkeling with me in Hawaii...no problem.
It's a great size, not too small, and definitely not too big like I'm trying to be some stupid show off with it. I put it on, and don't worry about it. It doesn't get in the way, I don't fear that I'm going to scratch it (I would probably worry a lot more about it if I had to drop a ton of cash on it!)
My only complaints are that sometimes the dark display (the yellow face model) can be hard to read if you are looking for a quick glance, the day of the week indicator is pretty small (I think if you really are struggling to determine the day of the week, then a watch is the least of your worries), and some of the embedded functions can be a little complicated to get used to.
But overall, a great buy. If you are buying a watch to be wearable, rugged, affordable, and a little stylish, then you've found it.
