Neither of the two fittings were small enough diameter to fit my handlebars (I have an older Trek hybrid). Without a tight fit, the basket cannot be stable even with the cable properly installed. After looking at some of the other bikes at REI it seems there are still bikes sold with the smaller diameter handlebars, so I don't understand why, considering the price of this basket, a third size of fitting isn't included. I was willing to pay for the features of this basket, but I had to return it because it couldn't be installed on my bike safely.

I really wanted this basket b/c it looks like it would really work well for going to the store with my daughter in her seat (can't use rear baskets). Alas, the handlebar fittings are too big for my bike. I have a new Trek and don't think it has particularly small handlebars, but there ya go. Bummer for such an expensive basket. I ended up going with a quick-release Wald basket and am so happy with it...plus it was less than half the price of the Topeak baskets!

The other reviewer is correct. All three of our bikes have the same handlebars (about 3" in diameter) and even with the extra fittings, I could not get this to stay level. I bought some exterior tape from the hardware to try to solve this, but had no success. Otherwise, it looks like a good product, and my wife really liked the appearance (it was a gift), but regretfully we are returning it as we can't get it to work with our bikes.
