Comments about Marmot Whitehorse Down Parka - Men's:
I bought this product to use in the city and out during extremely cold, 20-25 degrees and below, conditions. It seals you in with wrist cinches, waist skirt (which you can just tighten but not fasten close) and a high, comfortable collar and big detachable hood. It is completely waterproof and down filled. I have used it in 10 degrees and it is warm. In 30+ degrees, it can get too warm - so I leave off inner layers or wear a different winter coat.It has side pocket hand warmers which are useful and front zip pockets (which are a little hard to access because the flap lifts on only one side of the pocket, but I get my gloves in and out with a little scrape on the zipper each time. This is my extreme cold, nasty, weather, winter coat. I wear it to work and anywhere when the temperature gets low enough. I am 5'9" 165 lbs and am very happy with the fit. I would not use it for winter sports as it is too bulky for that.

Comments about Marmot Whitehorse Down Parka - Men's:
Seems very warm and well made, but it was way too big. I ordered a medium, which usually fits me just fine, but this parka was much too large. I'm going to have to return it for a small. If you get it, order one size down.
I have not had a chance to see how it handles the cold. It's bulky but not excessively heavy, seems like it would do a good job in keeping away the cold.

Comments about Marmot Whitehorse Down Parka - Men's:
I have used this jacket in extreme condition (-20F with wind) in Central Asia (Kazakhstan) and it worked very well. You will not be disappointed. This jacket is very well made with extreme attention to detail in design, quality and workmanship. The only drawback is it is limited to extreme conditions. I also own the TNF Vortex jacket for moderate to cold conditions.

Comments about Marmot Whitehorse Down Parka - Men's:
This is by far the BEST parka I have ever owned. I live in the Midwest where it gets very cold in the winter, and prior to this coat I owned a $300 north face "3 in 1" coat. While wearing it over a sweater in 45°F weather (no wind), I was frigid, so I would have to layer it with 2-3 sweatshirts/hoodies to be comfortable in 20°F weather.
When I got the Marmot Whitehorse, I knew that had changed. I can wear it over only a T-shirt and be toasty warm in 20°F weather. If I put merely a fleece under it, I feel like I would be fine sitting around when the temp is down in the single digits (hasn't happened yet since I got it). This parka completely blocks out the wind. The down insulated hood is especially warm and when enclosed, completely covers the face other than the eyes.
The parka IS a bit bulky but that is necessary for its warmth. I am 6'3" and about 215 lbs and the XL fit me perfectly. It is big but that's what I like about it. It feels like I'm wrapped in a huge, warm sleeping bag. It looks really good in black. If you are sick of being cold, this is the parka to buy!

Comments about Marmot Whitehorse Down Parka - Men's:
I find customer reviews very helpful when purchasing a product. I normally do not add to the reviews, but I feel inclined to review this product. I am now living in Mongolia. I took care in choosing the coat to bring for such frigid temperatures. The Marmot coat was may best choice of any clothing item considering the limited packing space. I am experiencing temperatures daily of -35F at night to -10F in the day. The coat is warm but yet breathes very well. I do not have a vehicle and I walk most everywhere I go in Mongolia. My feet and legs have been very cold, but my upper torso, arms, and head have never suffered from the extreme temperatures. The quality of the coat is outstanding and it will keep you warm. My wife has the equivalent coat for women made by Marmot but slightly longer. She loves the coat. If you are going to be out and moving around in real cold temperatures, this is an outstanding product.
