Skied in these pants from 5 degrees to 30 and they were comfortable throughout. When the temp rose at midday I unzipped the side vents and was instantly cooled off. There are 3 pockets to carry stuff which was adequate. The inseam on the regular is 32 and 30 on the short size which is flexible for most heights. I really liked these pants and was happy with their performance. I don't see how someone would wear the insulated version unless they don't like wearing a baselayer.

Recently bought these to replace my old ski pants. I am EXTREMELY happy! Warm, waterproof and stylish. Hand warmer pockets are a nice touch. Not insulated but a baselayer of fleece or long johns is plenty. Bluebird on the slopes Thursday...opened the Hyvents on the legs...instantly cooled me down without freezing me out. No complaints whatsoever. Will buy again from REI/North Face for all my mountain needs.

I love the comfortability of the pants, and they also fit well. The adjustable velcro waist straps help with getting the fit up top just right. Kept my legs toasty at zero degrees F. Have yet to try them in any kind of snow activity, but they're definitely great if you're looking to wear something warm!

I just used these on a 34 degree evening at Mt High in California, and these pants performed perfectly. They fit around my snowboot just right, as well as fit my waist perfectly.

I was concerned with length, as I usually wear between a 29 and 30 length pant, however these did the job perfectly. REI used to carry a short length, but these are doing the job.

Wore these pants for skiing in Whistler in varying weather conditions and they worked great. On cold days I wore long johns underneath and it was enough. Great ski pants; cargo pocket was nice for easy access to trail maps. I highly recommend it.

I picked up TNF Freedom pants this week after my snowboard pants ripped. At first I thought [$] was a bit steep for snowboard pants, however once I tried them on I knew I had to get them. I tend to get stuffy while boarding on the mountain, and the side vents on these pants sold me. Add in the looks/style, comfort and waterproof ability, and I knew it was worth the price. I didn't think the insulated version was necessary as I only board in 30 degree + weather. The pockets come in handy, and the style/fitting is just right. Great buy!
