The North Face Freedom shell pants provide reliable protection from the wet and cold when you're in the steep and deep.
- Quiet and abrasion-resistant HyVent™ coated nylon is completely waterproof, windproof and breathable; fully sealed seams prevent moisture seepage
- Performance Thermoliner I polyester lining holds in warmth, wicks moisture and eases layering
- Chimney Venting™ uses StretchVent™ gaiters and outer thigh vents with mesh gussets to control airflow and regulate temperature

The pants are great for the price. I ran into trouble with my initial purchase because I bought the Large Tall size online, figuring this would work since I'm 6'3", 180 lbs. They were a bit big around the waist but were able to be adjusted comfortably with the elastic; however, they were too long, even for a guy my height. I ended up going back into the store in town and trading them in for a medium, and these fit snugger around the waste but the length was much better. They don't bunch up as much around my boots. I don't feel like I'm wearing Hammer Pants anymore. I would recommend them for sure - great price for a good quality snowpant, but I'd recommend getting them in store and trying them on before purchasing.

They do their job, that's for sure. But a large is cut more like an XL-XLong. They were just gigantic. I recommend getting a size smaller than you would be used to if you purchase these online.

I bought these pants mid-season when there wasn't much selection around anywhere. Took them on a ski trip to Breckenridge, CO when it was single digit - teen temps and they worked great! I also wear them regularly as I teach ski lessons locally. These have been very comfortable, fit great with my ski boots, and I would by them over again.

I bought these for my first try at cross-country skiing. I fell down a lot, and these pants made it almost not matter. They're not heavy, very flexible, warm enough, and completely waterproof.

A Great Product! Always go with The North Face Shell. I like to ski in jeans/long undies, ya I know but thats me! I love how easy the shell is, and dry, warm, durable, love the pockets, just a simple great product. End of day, easy off and away I go! These pants are perfect for outdoor use. I am a photographer and do a lot of hiking/snowshoeing with my gear on my back. So I needed pants that are waterproof, and also warm but breathable. I couldn't imaging something working out better than these did. I even worked all day outside on a very rainy/snowy winter day in Acadia National Park and was perfectly dry and warm from the waist down. I only got cold when the driving rain finally made its way through my weatherproof LL Bean jacket, which is no slouch of a product -- yet these pants still were performing as designed in those awful conditions. I could not recomment these more highly.

I used these for my second time skiing and they were great. Conditions were pretty harsh, had fresh snow down plus normal temps in the teens with winds from 20-40mph....wind chill was -10F or more.
There is plenty of room in these for a medium to thick base layer. They broke the wind incredibly well and kept the wet out completely. Extra inner apron at the bottom kept snow out of boot when falls occurred as well. I used these to keep warm getting snow and ice off windshield and were comfortable enough to wear for part of the trip back home. The only problem is they are a little long to wear with regular shoes so I do not suggest wearing for general cold weather use. I am 6' and 200lbs and had the large...could have gone with the medium at 36" waist but large is comfortable enough.
