      I wore the earlier version of this jacket for two months in New Zealand, and it performed perfectly, both hiking and in cities. It compresses down to a tiny little rectangle and because it's primaloft it keeps insulating even when damp, unlike down. Much lighter than fleece so it's perfect for travel, and under my rain gear it kept me very toasty in wet howling wind on the west coast of NZ and also on freezing nights in the California desert. The silky fabric feels great, too. I love this jacket. I bought a large though I'm a medium and it still looks good and there's room enough to wear a fleece or down vest under it for really cold times. Love the zip-off arms, too. So versatile!

      Each year we travel to Japan over xmas / new years and we like to travel light, but it's winter, so warm clothes are a necessity.

      My mother (in California) found this jacket at REI and it was perfectly suited to my needs.

      Because it squishes up real small, but also has primaloft, it is easy to travel with, and does a great job of keeping out the cold!

      Also, with zip-off sleeves, on days when it's a bit more sunny and warm, you can take the sleeves off and wear it as a vest. Pretty easy to carry around and change the sleeves to suit, and to take on and off and scunch up into a small ball when going inside stores, etc.

      I liked it so much that, after seeing me wear it, my husband, mother and father, all got them too, and they love them too.

      The only negative with the jacket for me is that it's a bit baggy, and the outer shell a bit thin and shiny, making it look a bit casual and rather ugly. I would love one that had a little more structure to it.

        I FIRST GAVE THIS AS A GIFT, LIKED IT SO MUCH, I WENT BACK THE SAME DAY AND BOUGHT ONE FOR MYSELF.
        I WEAR IT ALL THE TIME, LOVE THE FACT IT CAN BE A VEST, WHICH I USE A LOT, AND WHEN I BROKE MY ARM, IT WAS PERFECT, COULD ZIP OFF ONE SLEEVE AND COMFORTABLY WEAR MY JACKET IN THE COLD WEATHER. NO OTHER JACKET WOULD HAVE PERMITTED ME SUCH AN OPTION.

        I ONLY WISH THEY MADE THIS JACKET INTO A WINTER ROBE, IT IS SO SOFT AND LIGHT AND WARM.

        HOPE TO SEE MORE PRODUCTS MADE OF THE SAME MATERIALS.
