Comments about REI Taku Pants - Women's Regular:
I just spent 16 days trekking in the Himalayas up to Everest base camp, via the Gokyo Ri and Cho La Pass route, a very demanding route... and before I left I knew I only had room for one pair of waterproof pants. I had hiked with other brands before, only to end up sweating to death due to a product that didn't breathe. So after trying multiple brands before I left, I decided on these due to the amazing fit (I'm a size 8 and 5'7" with slight curves, and these fit true to size), and quality for the price. The seams are sealed, the waist has velcro tabs if you need to make it more snug. I also loved the fact that they are cut well enough to add base layers if needed without looking too tight, and leaving room to move. I wore these on the most intense days of our trip, in snow, rain, and crossing over glaciers, some days up to 10 hours of hiking. They never rubbed or chaffed, even with my backpack on. They did not disappoint! I HIGHLY recommend these pants for hiking/trekking in areas where you will be in fluctuating temperatures. LOVE THEM!!! I will definitely be taking these with me on all trips in the future. They are not that lightweight, but it was worth the compromise.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Women's Regular:
I wear these a lot for hiking, but have only had them a short time (2 months maybe). The back pockets already have holes in them. They are inside pockets, so there is no external reason that they should have holes in them. They were not cheap price wise, so I'm quite surprised that the inside of the pockets (both of them) ripped so quickly. I'm a bit disappointed.

These pants were about 4-6 inches too short. I had to return them.

Worth the cost! Wore these on Colorado 14ers in the winter and on summit day of Kilimanjaro, kept me warm and dry on both. Quality is felt throughout, highly recommended.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Women's Regular:
Love these pants. They work GREAT for snow/backcountry sports. I wore these for a couple climbing trips (to Mt. Baker & Rainier), and they kept me warm in the wind and snow. These are definitely wind & waterproof pants. I did hike in them, but usually only in the cold (i.e. < 35F). The side zippers/vents provide some ventilation, but I wished that the vents were bigger. I like it that these are not insulated; I can choose to put on more or less layers as needed. Overall great pants. Now my sister-in-law wants a pair, too, after a hiking trip with her.

These pants are great - very comfortable, 100% water and wind resistant and the stretch is wonderful! Not too hot, even with tights / base layer under. Move great, always stay dry!

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Women's Regular:
The noise of these pants didn't bother me, but I agree with everything else the previous reviewer wrote about the poor fit to these pants. I understand that most shell pants are made a bit bigger to allow for baselayers, but I think I could fit a pair of insulated snow pants under these!- I even ordered a size smaller than my usual-I'm 5'7" 128 lbs usual size Small-and the XSmall was HUGE!!! The gusseted crotch is way too gusseted and makes the material bulge. I feel that when spending that much on a pair of pants, I expect the fit to at least be in the right ballpark for size!
Most of the time I love REI clothing. I've worn many items that look and perform just as well as many high priced brands for a fraction of the price! The only issue I've noticed consistently is that they usually run a little(one size) big which is never a problem if I order one size smaller...it just doesn't work for the Taku pants

Love these pants. I XC ski and cold weather hike in them w/a pair of tights as a base layer and they are perfect. Not too hot, but kept me plenty warm. Not bulky, easy to move in...You don't feel like the Michelin Tire Man in them!

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Women's Regular:
I really wanted to like these pants. I would be able to give a more thorough review if I had been able to get past how LOUD they are. No, seriously, I had to remove them asap because it was so annoying. Just wanted to give a heads up on that note. Also, they were bulgy around the crouch and high-rise. But, the length is perfect for wearing with boots. Really, i just could not handle how loud they were. It's like scratchin a record with every step.
