Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Pants - Women's:
These pants are wonderful for winter wear, both indoors and out. The windblock is great when I'm out in the wind, and the side vents allow me to stay cool when exercising. Plus they're reasonably flattering.
The two things that don't work so well are that the waist is a bit loose and there is no way to tighten it up (I'd put in a drawstring or tabs on the side) and the inside of the fabric isn't as soft as the outside. I end up wearing merino long underwear under it to make them more comfortable against my skin, which is nice, but it'd be better if this wasn't necessary.

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Pants - Women's:
Santa got these wonderful pants for me to snowshoe in. I am a novice at the sport but detest being cold. They seem to be perfect with just a pair of thermals on underneath them. The side vents are a plus. They are comfy, warm and the wind break properties are great. My only knock on them is that on my particular pair, the zipper doesn't want to stay up and latched.

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Pants - Women's:
I found these pants either to be too hot or too cold. They brake the wind, but then leave you sweating inside; they do not breath at all and the ventilation zipper was inadequate for airflow. I returned these, and you should too. Go with a wind-resistant soft-shell with a layering piece that insulates underneath instead.

I love everything about these pants. They keep me warm in the house and running errars around town in freezing weather. The only complaint I have is the darn zipper won't stay up all the way. I can zip it up and moments later it is down about 1 1/2 inches. I feel like I always need to check my zipper when I am out in public. Other than that, they are AWESOME!

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Pants - Women's:
I've owned these pants for a couple of seasons. While they are indeed quite wind and chill resistant, I wonder if REI ever tested them in the real blustery heights of our Rocky Mtns on a sub-freezing snowshoe outing?
What I'm getting at, ladies, is when you need your turn behind the bush, even a few seconds of exposure can be disastrous. These pants come with teeny little zip tabs and a snap at the waist - VERY difficult without bare nimble fingers especially in the cold. Beware. I've added zipper pulls all over which helped.
An unusual design blunder for REI. The fleece pills as well. Wishing they would bring back my 2006/2007 version with a no-fuss no-muss elastic waist and zip pulls.

These quickly became my favorite pants to wear. I plan to launder them conservatively and hopefully they will last as long as my old pair which I still wear.

I received these in Sept and never thought I'd wear them - thought they'd be too hot. Now, in the eastern PA winter season - they are perfect! I wear them to my job at pool - easy to get into and out of - and they are warm when I leave the pool. (No trouble with zippers like others had)

Love these pants, warm, even in the windiest coldest conditions. Great number of pockets, zippers etc. Why for this price point and level of sophistication did they not put in any waist band adjustment? These would be PERFECT if they just fixed that one issue...

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Pants - Women's:
I love these pants! I initially bought these pants to keep me warm on chilly morning bike rides to work in Alaska during the autumn. They also do a great job thru the winter. When it gets to about 15 degrees, I wear a thin merino wool layer underneath. I never get cold legs and I haven't overheated yet either (with side vents closed). Lately I've been using them for casual crosscountry skiing, snowshoeing, and impromtu sliding down hills on snow. I've never felt wet from melted snow inside. I have relatively long legs and these cover my ankles completely (around a 32.5" inseam).I am a size 12 and ordered these pants in a size large. They fit just a bit loose around the waist which is good when I want to wear the wool layer underneath. Side pockets are a nice depth and perfectly placed for comfy hand warming. Mine haven't pilled yet after about 10 or so washes.
