Proprietary, high-grade aluminum frame is lightweight and custom-shaped for an exceptionally comfortable and surprisingly efficient ride; think XC racer meets cruiser
Shimano Nexus internal rear hub provides 3 smooth-shifting speeds and is remarkably maintenance free compared to conventional cassette systems
Mechanical disc brakes provide positive stopping power no matter the terrain or weather—great for navigating traffic on rainy days
700c wheelsets ensure a fast, smooth ride for covering long distances with a minimum of effort; Kenda folding tires supply low rolling resistance and puncture protection
Integrated fenders fore and aft preclude wet, muddy lines up your front and down your back; chainguard keeps clothes from getting greasy or caught up in the drivetrain
Sturdy rear rack is perfect for stashing items out of the way and easily accepts a rear rack trunk (sold sparately)
Ti Rail RIDE Premium saddle features 2-tone leather and is designed for ultimate comfort; seatpost height adjusts easily with a flip of the quick-release clamp
Kickstand follows the curves of the frame to subtly tuck away when not in use; easily deploys to sturdily support the bike when you're out of the saddle

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. You almost get too much attention taking this out in public! The all-black theme is a good look for the frame and looks like a piece of art. The bike performs exactly as I expected for the price. One word of caution...the 3-speeds are all geared for cruising only. It is billed as a 'commuter', but it will only get geared high enough for commutes if you change out the front derailer to a larger size or back cog to a smaller version.

Super cool looking bike. However, you can't help but think that style took precedent over function. Long top tube, slack seat tube angle, and straight handlebars lead to be long, long reach that is not comfortable for commuting of any length unless you have gorilla arms. I feel like I am on a race bike with the thing, even when I shorten the stem and move the seat forward.
