Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
The shirt feels great when worn, and has all the benefits of Merino wool (doesn't retain smells, dries quickly, doesn't itch or chafe). But the shirt started to develop small holes everywhere after 6-8 wears and washings. I wasn't doing anything terribly rough on the shirt, just carrying a pack doing athletic activities. For the money I paid, I expect durability, and this shirt doesn't come close IMO.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
I use the SmartWool as a base layer when hiking in all seasons/weather. The Merino wool is soft and doesn't chafe or rub even when carrying a heavy pack. The material dries faster than a synthetic tee I have. As an experiment I wore my SmartWool tee for 5 days on a strenuous hike without washing it. After 5 days the tee shirt still didn't have an odor issue that usually develops after 3 days with my synthetic tee. I'm totally sold on wool.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
I have owned 4 Smart Wool T shirts for the last 5 years. I sleep with one on in the Winter. When I go outside and need insulation one of these T shirts is part of my layering over a coolmax or similar base layer. They have acquired a patina from repeated use and laundering but show no other signs of wear.
Today I am buying another just to have a different color available.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
I recently purchased this shirt and took it on a local 5 mile hike. It did well with managing moisture and keeping me dry, but when I went to pull my shirt down where it had started to bunch underneath my backpack belt it tore near the seam. This was the first time I had worn the shirt and it had never been washed. I will be returning it to REI and getting a replacement, I hope it was just one bad apple. However, the material is very thin, and it seems like it isn't very hard to tear.

It started developing holes after a few months. Until then, it was my favorite T.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
This shirt seems abolutely absurd, I mean come on 60 dollars for a t-shirt? That was my exact thought as I found myself purchasing it for an unknown reason. Well turns out that reason was fate, this shirt is beyond worth it, dries incredibly quickly, wicks great, I don't believe this shirt has ever smelt bad and I have worn it a lot, about to buy another one soon. Its comfortable, 100 percent merino wool, from a reputable company, carries the rei guarantee, all in all a solid, great base layer that you should seriously consider purchasing.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
These are the most comfortable shirts I've found. The only problem is that after paying [$] I expect it to last more than a few months. I've gone through three of them now, and I'm finally throwing in the proverbial towel (or shirt). The shirt starts to get holes & tears within the first 8 (give or take a few) washes.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
I love this shirt.
Though skeptical about how itchy and warm as it is thin wool(150g/(m*m)) it feels as light and fits similarly to an American Apparel shirt. I am 6'4" and like how long the torso is and how the sleeves are a nice length, not cheap t-shirt long, but not lacoste french polo short either. If you see all the photos of these base layers one might believe the fit is skin tight compression style. If you are an average athletic built it won't look like that for you. If you want it to, get a smaller size? I wear large in most shirts as well as smart wool.
Got it for bird hunting in desert as i couldn't move while trying to zip my sleeping bag up wearing four bulky fleece jackets, I needed some thinner layers. I wear it as a normal shirt because it looks like a nice heather t-shirt.
I was going to get an ibex shirt because I thought it was made in the USA, alas it is imported. I like how smart wool states specifically where it is made instead of saying imported. I like to know what country I am exploiting. haha
All my skepticisms have been cleared. It is not itchy. It does not fit like a compression shirt. It does not smell.
the only thing left is to see how long it holds up. Will probably hand wash it for now because I do not want to chance killing an awesome merino masterpiece.
Cheers.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
After reading a bunch of comments I took a chance on this shirt. I sweat like no body's business so I wanted some athletic wear that wouldn't smell like a goat after 30 minutes of use. To put this shirt to the test I wore it a couple of times for casual wear and light activity and then laundered it as directed.
Went for a 10K trail run(Turkey Mountain in Tulsa) while wearing a camel back (2 liter) for a test of my setup in prep for a half marathon in 2 weeks.
The shirt was great. Never felt heavy or suffocating and was a good enough barrier to ward off any hot spots from the pack.
When I got home I only hand rinsed it in cold water and gave it a good squeeze and then let it air dry. NO ODOR!
Couldn't be happier.
Oh yeah, no itching either! Worth the money to me.

Comments about SmartWool NTS Microweight T-Shirt - Men's:
At an REI store in the hiking section I asked for light weight clothes that dried quickly & a sales rep said he had worn his shirt hiking for 30 straight days without washing. I bought one for a cross country motorcycle trip. The first 8 days were over 100 degrees and it kept me cool, never smelled and was ready to go the next morning. I wore it for 30 straight days without washing it to find out how it would do. It passed with flying colors. Three separate people sniffed it while on the trip and everyone said it smelled like-nothing. Everything wicked away. Great shirt. Expensive but worth it for traveling. Two of these and you could probably make it around the world. Buy it as a present for someone. They will love it.
