Comments about Ruff Wear Knot-a-Leash - Large:
I bought two of these leashes for my dogs.
8 year old pug.
9 yr old 60 lb mutt.
I specifically bought this leash to combo with the ruff wear harness to swim with my large dog and not have to worry. She has a tendency to swim and swim and swim, even when she's getting tired and there's a currant. This has been a solution to stop worrying about her getting swept downstream.
The handle is roomy and very comfortable. The rope is easy to clean and dries pretty quick. The locking carbiner is a great feature although you do not have to lock it for the leash to secure to the collar/harness.
When locked on I know that my dog isn't going anywhere (unless I let go). This leash is built like steel! It's not going to fray, rip, hurt your hand or give out on you. Holds up to chews and wet conditions.
Love it!

Comments about Ruff Wear Knot-a-Leash - Large:
Overall this is a great take on a traditional dog leash. I like that the leash is made out of climbing rope, has the reflective weaving for dark nights and has the locking fastener. I have only been using it about one week and the first thing I noticed is that unlike a regular leash, the fastener does not swivel freely from the leash itself. Pehaps this would not be a problem for most people, however I have a 40lb. pit-boxer and he is currently wearing a chain training collar for our walks and what will inevitably happen is that through the course of our walks it begin to twist up and wrap around itself, which begins to tighten the noose so-to-speak. As I said, perhaps not a problem for some, but considering how much thought this company puts into the quality of their products, it seemed to me a rather obvious oversight. Perhpas they will remedy this on future models.

Seriously awesome leash. I bought an older version about two or three years ago and it has since been through five national parks, on countless day hikes, and has even been with me and my dog while fording a river! No rusting or signs of serious wear. The locking carabiner has proven time and time again to be handy for some odd use while backpacking. I can't stress enough that this thing has been through absolute hell and back with no complains from myself or my dog!
I am buying a second for my fiance's dog. I hope they never go out of production!

Best Leash EVER! The handle is like a Audio/Lighting Spanset/Sling - it's rope, with a sheath over it, the MOST comfortable thing to behold, seriously. The carabiner is a real locking climbing carabiner, with a load rating of 1100kg, or 2,425 lbs! A high quality rope with loops and a 'biner can come in very handy in a multitude of situations. Never leave home without it! (I wish I could wear it as my belt - I'll figure out a way)
I got the 10mm thick in Obsidian Black - which is very grey in color, not black at all. The interwoven reflectives are a godsend. Highly visible when throwing light upon. The spanset styled handle is the perfect thickness and so comfortable, even with thick winter gloves. The way it's constructed makes it really nice to wrap around my palm, like Henry Rollins wraps his mic cable when he performs, for differing - on the fly - length adjustments. Otherwise the length is PERFECT. I don't know how they decided on the length, but it's perfectly sized to skateboard with my dog, without running her over.
I wanted the very best, so I ordered some EZYdog tethers, as well as braiding my own from AMSTEEL ropes. There is no comparison to the EZY dog stuff! The EZYdog stuff is made of whack polypropylene, which is rough on your hands, and it's that cheapest yellow rope from Home Depot - very weak-sauce. This one from RUFFWEAR is made of super-high quality climbing rope, so much softer and comforting for your hands.
I got the EZYdog stuff, because of the elasticity built into their products, but with this knot-a-leash, I don't need that fancy stuff - this leash has an inherent elasticity within the rope, just enough for my large doggie. Also the construction is ten times more hardcore than the EZYdog products.
I added a swivel claw snap ring thing to the end of the carabiner - to fix the only flaw of it not coming with a swivel mechanism, but I don't mind. Now it's perfect!
It even has some of that high-tech HYPALON material to keep the carabiner centered on the rope! SUPER!
Top-Notch! It's so rare to find a high quality product, and I only wish I had a reason to buy more of these! Maybe I'll get more dogs, or maybe I'll check out their other products now. This thing is BEAST! I know it'll last forever. I promise to take good care of it. :)
I'm Super Happy with this thing, and yes, I recommend it. Happy walking!
