The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
We use this product in our VW Pop Top and LOVE it -- compact, easy to use, makes enough coffee for 2+, better coffee than press style, easy to clean and store. No negatives.
We have just purchased the larger one for our 35 foot trimaran sailboat.
Highly recommended without reservations. Buy paper filters and don't mess with reusable filter!

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
The coffee maker in the condo in Sun Valley, ID where we were staying was very fancy but could not make a decent cup of coffee. Went looking for a Meleeta for our stay and found this nifty system. Was initially interested in the collapsable silcone coffee cone filter holder and then realized there was a whole system attached.
Worked great in action once I got some paper filters. The filter provided just clogged up and stopped the whole process. Luckily the gold filter from the fancy useless coffe maker fit the drip cone till we could locate the right size paper filters.
Coffee stayed very warm for at least an hour in the recepticle at room temperature. I guess additional insulation could be applied for very for cold weather. Could pour remaining coffee into a thermos in that case too I guess.
Can't wait to take this baby up into the back country. So many times the maleeta on top of a mug system tipped over in the past. On this system everything is very stable especially once the recptacle starts filling with coffee forming a solid base. I really like how all the coffee drips through a small whole on top of the recepticle to prevent heat loss.
May use this to make coffee at my desk at work.

I am extremely happy with the GSI drip coffee maker. I have been using it every day for the last 40 days. Traveling: I can brew a good coffee without wasting a bunch of my precious grind. I use paper filters rather than the filter that comes with it, although, the portable filter has saved me a few times. It is easy to clean; dries quickly; easy to pack. No cracks, no drips, no seepage. It fits perfectly into one compact unit. I can store coffee packet inside the container, which helps cuts down backpack bulk. This item is probably the best portable coffee maker that I've tried, and I've tried many: from french press to portable filter drips. Medium weight, might not make it on long backpacks.

Ive never brewed my own coffee until today...
Bought this little drip unit and boiled some water. 12 oz of water and 5 1/2 tablespoons of coffee later, and i just made the best cup of coffee ive had to date.
I would highly recommend it.

Makes great coffee! I bought this to take on multi-family camping trip and made coffee for four. Everyone was quite impressed. It's quick and doesn't take much room in the pack. I brought paper filters as recommended by others and had no problems. Looking forward to impressing my fellow Scout leaders on our next trip.
Service and delivery comments:
Order placed by phone because I was unable to add the item to my cart online. Salesperson was friendly and quite helpful. Delivery was prompt and packaged well. Thanks REI!

I am an EMT and work 24 hours shifts at various stations. It's a handy way to make my coffee I'm the only one on that shift who drinks coffee. I bought it for backpacking, but it's not convenient for that. I will be purchasing their 20 oz version with insulated mug. With that model I can leave my aluminum cup at home and because the 20 oz version nests together, I have less volume of stuff to carry.

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
My initial motive for this java drip was for use backpacking or car camping. But I got it as a Christmas gift, and have used it 3 mornings in a row at home!
I didn't want to mess with cleaning a press, so I opted for a drip. This device is very simple, fairly lightweight, and performs wonderfully. I have noticed that the 2 TBL of coffee per 6 oz of water is a very rough estimate, depending on what coffee you use, obviously. It didn't stay hot in the container for long, which I didn't mind since I drank mine right away. This is going to be so much better than instant coffee!
I love this java drip and can't wait to get it outside in spring!

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
I have to have my coffee in the morning (and at night), and have to have the real stuff, not instant. This thing works great.
Simply put: it performs well, is durable, and easy to clean. One caveat= I use paper filters instead of the mesh-like filter that was provided.
Size-wise: Not a problem car camping, though since it's about the same size as a Jet Boil, I take it backpacking as well. I need real coffee and it doesn't take up that much more room.

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
Product works as advertised. Use paper #4 cone filters for fast, easy cleanup with much less water than a standard coffee percolator. Product nests perfectly inside a 12 cup coffee pot with room for extra filters. The carafe keeps the second round warm until you get to it. Bring a thermos and you can pump out enough coffee with seconds for a group.

Comments about GSI Java Drip Coffee Maker - 30 oz.:
This isnt the smallest thing that I could be carrying to make coffee, but I believe its the best.
I have taken it on two bike packing trips and numerous camping overnighters, and it has always got me going in the morning, quickly and easily.
One thing I have done however, is I have been using paper filters instead of the one provided. I dont know that it would clog or not, but I just use a paper one, and drop it in my campfire when I am finished to save cleaning.
I cant get going without this thing.
