The Continental Contact tire is the ideal choice for all-around touring and for commuting on city streets. It's the jack-of-all-trades amongst city and trekking tires.

  • Safety System puncture protection utilizes a polyamide nylon belt directly under the tread strip, making them virtually impervious to puncture and road debris
  • Made with a mix of carbon and silica as the main agents; carbon aids tread life while the silica boosts grip levels
  • Flexible shoulder lugs and fine sipes guarantee grip in curves and on loose surfaces
  • Tire is grooved to channel water from center to side threads for traction in wet road conditions

      Comments about Continental Contact Tire - 700 x 28:

This tire felt heavy and unresponsive from the start. I tried to like it but after my fourth flat in about 1500 miles I am now officially unhappy with it. In the tire's defense there is a lot of debris on my commuting route. One of my flats was caused by glass, the other three by small steel wires deposited on the road as a result of car tire blow-outs (steel belting material).
The tires are hard to change as well. Obviously I should have realized this might be a challenge when I picked a steel-beaded tire. I took a chunk out of one of my fingers when changing a tire after my iron slipped and I hit a spoke nipple hard. Cursing and seeing blood on your spoke nipples and rim isn't a good way to start a Monday. After 1500 miles I am biting the bullet and picking up a pair of Schwalbe Endurance foldable tires. Please Lord, let the Schwalbe's work better than the Conti's....

        Comments about Continental Contact Tire - 700 x 28:

Bought these to move from slicks to grips for the upcoming rainy season in Seattle. (Its not rainned yet, so cannot speak to this yet, but its coming!) ;) Recommended by Armando (their BEST REI bike tech) for the upcoming rain season

As someone who has not rode for 6 yrs, I appreciate feeling the extra grip on these when I take corners and such. I didnt want to ride with slicks now that I have started up again and am 'older' than I used to be which means I want more caution. These tires feel it.

The extra tread is still light enough to not make me feel like I am going slower or they are heavier, but just enough to make me feel comfortable. I'm happy with the move and the price is great

          Comments about Continental Contact Tire - 700 x 28:

I've been using this tire for a few months now and have been pleased with it. It has good tread and handles well. I've haven't tried it in rain though. I've gone over goathead thorns a few times and seen them sticking out of the tire when I've been riding. I thought for sure this would puncture the inner tube, but it hasn't, so the barrier in the tire is working pretty well.
