We were able to put my front wheels and the Chariot double stroller/bike attachment in this on our trip to Colorado; just returned and let a friend use it to take camping and fishing equipment to Colorado. This thing is worth every penny!!

Comments about Thule Boxter Roof Box:

This box is so quiet and stable, I forget it's up there. Looks nice too. Installed in minutes with help of the trusty staff at REI Denver. The lid mechanism has a nifty spring-assisted hinge that works from either side which makes it a cinch to open. Only trouble I've had with it is more a problem with me than the box: I'm 5'4" and had trouble reaching the back of the box to install the tie down straps. Would be no problem with a ladder, but of course, you don't always have one handy. Otherwise everything about this box is great and it's almost doubled the cargo capacity of my Touareg.

Comments about Thule Boxter Roof Box:

my first cargo box purchase. i was smart to wait on this box purchase. with rei member 20% off coupon and applying my dividends took nearly $200 of the price of this box.

if you can turn a knob you can affix this box. it really is that simple. i have this mounted to an audi a6 avant with thule aeroblade bars. and it turns heads. i love it. it's sexy and sleek.

i have yet to haul anything in it as i've only had it for a week. the only downside to the whole thing i can think of is hassle of storage when not in use. i am going to have to clear a spot in the garage. or just keep it on top the car. cruising at 85/90 mph is not a problem. i'm amazed at how little noise there is. there really should be more noise.

Comments about Thule Boxter Roof Box:

I have used half a dozen different boxes between Thule & Yakima on my last few vehicles (SUV to sedan to hatchback) and this is the creme de la creme! I simply have no idea what the first 1 star reviewer is talking about since this is one of the most solid top carrier boxes in production anywhere in the market.

I am on the road 10 months out of the year and this box has already logged more than 60,000 miles on top of my Audi A3 hatchback. It has been from coast to coast multiple times, Tampa to Calgary, through mid-summer Death Valley fire to the freezing Colorado Rockies in late January, and everywhere in between.

While not an avid speed demon I generally move 5-7 mph over while staying in traffic, yet sometimes open up a bit more in the plains or deserts. This box has been above 90 mph with not so much as a wobble both under load or empty. No other box I've owned was close to the Boxter's stability. It has great support & weight distribution as well (My rack also carries a Specialized hardtail beside the box), not to mention fantastic styling compared to the rest of the carrier pack. And even though minimal to no loss of mpg when loaded (I can't say the same about my bike acting like a sail against the 4-cyl turbo), I swear I get better mpg when it sits empty up top than when it is off the car.

Yes it costs more per sqt ft of internal space, however you are paying for extended structure and design. And while by design I am talking engineering, it is stylish as well. Wait for any of the numerous 20% off Thule sales nationwide and never look back!

              Service and delivery comments:

REI is always top notch in regards to service and support. The entire experience of putting togetehr each stage of my roof rack system (1. rails & bike mount 2. Ski rack come 1st winter 3. Adding roof top-carrier) was nothing short of excellent!

Comments about Thule Boxter Roof Box:

I knew this thing was way overpriced. [$] for injected molded plastic. I had a 20% coupon though and I always wanted a box. This is nice looking but it didn't fit like Thule said it would. Also, the track to adjust the fit was plastic on plastic. I'll let you guess how that works. It came broken. This piece of plastic would be a fair price at $250, not [$]. Very disappointed.
