First use was needing to pack a double-stroller which the Thule handled easily. Easy single-person opening and closing. Tip: don't leave your Thule key at home. ;)

I needed a replacement for an old car top carrier in order to take the whole family to Chicago for the weekend in my Expedition. Plenty of room for passangers but with the back row of seats up, there was little luggage room. The Thule did the job. Although I consider it rather expensive, it was good value for the money. Well engineered and functioned perfectly.

Had 2 Thules before always had great service from these cargo boxes,needed more space 18 cu/ft for the snow boards.This one has new type installation clamps & features. I can get local service for repairs & maintenance & accessories.

I like Thule cartop boxes. This is my second one and I had to get a bigger one to hold more stuff. This Atlantis 1800 is really roomy and very easy to install. My only criticism, and it may not be a fair one since it may only apply to my 2011 Subaru Outback, is that even with the cartop box adjusted all the way forward, the lower back end just hits the tailgate when I raise it up. It still works fine and there seems to be enough "give" in the plastic and attachment bolts to allow for that fraction of an inch needed to open the tailgate all the way up. But it would have been nice if the adjustment tracks had a little more adjustment range, or if the lower part of the back of the box was tapered, so it was a little further forward than the top of the fully opened tailgate.

We bought this for Christmas and transported 5 pairs of skis (including longer cross country skis), helmets, a snowboard, 5 prs. ski boots and 5 prs. snow boots - and there was room left over. We wouldn't have been able to take a week long skiing vacation without it. It helped preserve driving visibility through the rear window in, important especially in snowy, foggy conditions. We will use it this summer for our tents and sleeping bags. I bet it would even fit a small bike!! Even with the Thule box on my Volvo SUV, I can still fit inside my carport.
