Questionable compared to earlier version

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 16:

This product replaced a 15+ year old Rocket Box that had developed some cracks. Purchased the new one sight unseen because of the quality of old box. They are made of a new material and both the locking and attachment system have changed. The new attachment system works well but my Toyota 4Runner Sport factory bars mounted far enough back to interfere with the spoiler. New Yakima bars moved it the inches forward necessary to fit. Noisy, with much of it coming from the new central locking bars. Yakima's response: you might be happier with our new top of the line carrier rather than the Rocket Box. Fixed with foam tape (standard on the original box). Central locking requires that unit be locked to remove key. If your ignition key is with the carrier key, you can't start the car. First rainstorm has also indicated that there may be some slight leakage. On the whole, the only plus compared to the old design is the attachment method, the rest has been cheapened up condsiderably.

    I use my Rocktbox to go fishig an camping. All gear can fit it the box for four fisherman. Which leaves room in my jeep for me and my three buddies. After the trip the wet cloths an coolers of fish stay safe and contained on top of my jeep. Easy to install an adjust for my rear tailgait that needs to go up and down. The lock takes some time to get use to but if one in smart it should not be a problem. I would recommend it stongly to friend or anybody.
