Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
I've been searching for something like this because we have three kids and a dog in a mid size SUV. We also like to take a surfboard with us and thus needed room on the roof for that versus a big giant nerd box on the roof. The Yakima looks great, takes up only half the space on top of a Mountaineer and is deep enough to fit about three packed roller bags (versus the shallower Thule) one soft bag, and fit in some miscellaneous junk around them such as individual golf clubs, rackets, poles, etc. We've travelled with it twice now and it's pretty indispensible. It definitely has opened up our comfort in travelling and we don't have to pollute the universe with a giant SUV.

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
Got the RocketBox11 to throw on top of my 03 Honda Pilot. Box fits on the factory bars fine. No problems putting on and no noise and no rattle when driving. Feels a bit flimsy when opening and closing but that is typical of these things. Thicker shell boxes are considerably more expensive with the same 100% warranty.
The problem is that even with the cross bars moved all the way to the front and the box clamps all the way back the box is so long that it still gets in the way of the rear hatch. Pain unloading gear from the rear. I couldn't open the rear hatch more then half way and the hatch would still rub on the box which caused the paint to scratch. Yakima stating that this box will "fit" a Honda Pilot (or other similar cars) is like saying a size 12 shoe will fit a size 6 foot. It would not be hard for them (and Thule) to gather the factory dimensions for vehicles and tell you if your cars hatch would actually hit whichever size box you are interested in. Automotive parts dealers do it all the time and that is essentially what this box is...

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
Great box for half the top, so bike/kayak/skis, or canoe can go on opposite side. Replaced an older model, this one is much easier to install, fits more variations in cross-bars. Could be too long for some hatchbacks. I use for fishing rods, kayak paddles and gear, tents, anything that may be wet especially returning or going from camp to camp. Would be super for skis and boots. I only wish it was made with each end symmetrical so it could be put on either side with the same aerodynamics, or made to open on either side if asymmetrical. It is designed to open passenger side.

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
Nice, basic, no frills ski or board box. Long enough for at least 190cm skis. pretty easy install. Only gripe is the rear hatch on my outback hits the box when open, but that's the car's fault.

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
I have a Honda Element with factory roof rack and I can't adjust the spacing of the bars. You can adjust the mounting clamps of the box but even on the narrowest setting it barely works for my car. The front clamps won't fit all the way around the bar for that reason. It still seems very secure though and I've had no problems related to this. Gas mileage is very good even with it on my car and it keeps the rain out. However, after 1 year of use I've noticed cracks in the plastic around a rear mounting bracket. All i've ever loaded in it is campig gear or a small carry-on size suitcase so good thing for the warranty. I'll return it when it gets bad.

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
I bought this as a second box for the roof of my subaru. It survived the drive from Utah to Alaska in winter just fine. However, when I pulled it out of storage this spring there was a large, random crack in the plastic (and not in an area that experiences a lot of stress or pressure like one might expect). I like that this box is made from recycled plastic, but the quality and durability is far below that of my other oldie-but-goodie Yakima box. I also have Yakima bars, towers and ski racks which have all performed well over the years. However "good" the price, this box should have lasted longer then a year of intermittent use.

Comments about Yakima RocketBox 11 Roof Box:
Box was ok, but not great. Too small to put 2 boards, a pair of skis, and some various items. Overall not too impressed with the size. Overall durability was put to the test this morning when my wife drove the SUV into the garage with the box on top.... it didn't fit and was left laying in the driveway with the car in the garage. Yakima offers no support for such an issue. I have just ordered the Rocketbox 16
