    Seems mechanically overbuilt and heavy for the purpose of filtering out organic debris and silt. With only a 40 micron diameter screen, it might not get out all biofilms, sediments, and silt. That being said, once assembled, it works well. Personally I would have preferred not a FitsAll filter, but a filter optimized for narrow mouthed (Platypus type) bottles.

      This is the prefect prefilter. I only needed something that was going to make sure the chunks are out of my drinking water and this thing provides that in a compact, easy to use design. I love my steripen and now I love my prefilter.
