  • Reynolds 520 steel frame offers smooth handling and strength under heavy loads; spoke holder and pump peg complement the classic touring design
  • Shimano drivetrain offers smooth shifting through 27 gears designed to get you and your equipment up and over mountain passes and across the flatlands
  • Avid BB5 Road mechanical disc brakes ensure powerful braking power in even the worst conditions
  • Tough double-walled rims and puncture-resistant Vittoria Randonneur Cross tires have the durability needed to log long miles
  • Classic Brooks B17 aged leather saddle offers legendary comfort and performance

  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Raleigh Sojourn Touring Bike - 2009:

I bought this bike last spring for a 1,125 mile self-supported tour this summer. Other than some minor derailleur adjustments, the bike was problem free. I made it from Colorado to Chicago with only one flat and no mechanical issues (I bought a new chain in eastern Iowa as the original was close to stretched).

I carried about 50lbs of gear; added a Tubus Tara rack to the front. The bike has performed well on the highways, hills, trails, and dirt roads. I appreciated the disk brakes and fenders in the rain.

Comments about Raleigh Sojourn Touring Bike - 2009:

I purchased this bike for a tour next year. I have only put about 100 miles on it but I am impressed thus far. The bike is comfortable. I like the disk brakes they stop me no matter how loaded and no matter of my speed.

I was disappointed in REI. I lived in New England and the REI store the bike could be shipped to was in NJ. They would not allow it to be shipped to my house. When I got there to pick it up no attempt was made to fit the bike to me. I did so myself but come on. I had to travel to NJ to pick up the bike and no fitting.
