After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I love this bike! I feel as though it was designed just for me! I am an active Nanny with a 5 mile commute.
Before my Roadster I rode a 1970s Schwinn. At first I loved my vintage Schwinn, it was so cute and classic, red with contoured fenders, and an old pedal powered light, with rear baskets! But it was also extremely heavy, one of the derailers were broken, I was riding with only my 4 highest gears, which made hills awful! I wasn't riding much at all, I was not motivated every morning for a dragging 5 mile struggle to work.
The Roadster is almost as stylish and cute as my Schwinn, it retains a lot of the asthetics I like about my old bike. I wish it came in a fun color, but oh well! The fenders are wonderful for NW's wet weather, the 8 gears suit me just fine.
Now every commute (I ride everyday now) is quick, fun, and really pretty easy!

Love this bike!
