Whether you're commuting, fitness training or heading out for your first century, the Raleigh Cadent FT2 bike is built to carry you there, back and out again in comfort.

  • Hydroformed and butted aluminum frame provides a comfortable, sporty ride with excellent handling and pedaling efficiency; upright position improves visibility
  • Carbon Cross fork with aluminum steer tube reduces weight while also helping damp road vibration
  • Shimano drivetrain features a triple crank and a 12-25 cassette for 24 speeds that'll spin you up the tough grades, fly across town and quickly roll through the miles
  • Trigger shifters quickly snap through gear changes to keep your pace
  • Tektro Alloy Mini V-brakes facilitate easy management of your speed
  • Fast 700c wheels feature tough double-walled rims and Vittoria Randonneur 700x32 tires for smooth rolling throughout the city and out into the countryside
  • Eyelets accommodate a rear rack and fenders (sold separately) for ultimate utility
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Raleigh Cadent FT2 Bike - 2009:

Good: Bike looks darker gray in person than appears in product photos (good news to me), the spokes in the wheels are actually black and thicker (also nicer looking than the photo), the grips are so comfortable, the seat is surprisingly comfy for being a bandaid on a stick, the gears are the most solid I've ever had, each wheel and seat have quick release levers, brakes are strong, looks fast sitting still, strong gears, very light bike probably 20 lbs (guessing), I'm 6'3", 225lbs and the 59cm is perfect (lucky because there is no bigger size). Bad:[...] the trigger shifters are nice, but the plastic that their housing is made of feels cheap (so what), the gearing is higher than I expected (not a great hill climber so far - could be me), 700x32 is not as wide of a tire, as I had hoped to possibly get by on some unpaved trails (yes it's a ROAD bike) but I think it will fit a size larger, no front badge like on the older versions. All in all it is perfect, I love this bike. It's really nice and really fast. Get a computer on it and look at how fast it will go, the gears just keep on coming and they are really strong and fast. I appreciate that it is light and fast, yet still comfortable. Solid bike.

Comments about Raleigh Cadent FT2 Bike - 2009:

Bought this bike last fall, paid more at[...]. I am re-entering bicycling after many years. After trying several bikes I thought the flat handlebar and mountain bike-like shifters with a more comfortable riding profile would suit me best. Carbon fork makes a big difference in bumps through handlebars, worth the upgrade over aluminum. The aluminum frame is fairly light, I measured at 26 lb. Shimano Sora deraillier works smooth and quickly. Nice grips. Works well on paved bike paths and commuting. After several rides, added computer, underseat bag for emergency stuff and a cable lock. I am old school, so I also added a kickstand. (only rear bracket will work) I did invest in padded shorts and gloves- helps a lot!The FT2 is working great for getting me back into cycling. Someday I may begin to look at a lighter drop bar bike instead for more ability to move around on the bike. The flat bars are nice, but kinda lock you into one riding profile.
