Comments about GT Aerostream Bike - 2009:
Bought it for no good reason; plan to give it to my 8-year old daughter when she's tall enough. Was planning on riding it for one of my work commutes, but, after riding it around the neighborhood - dropping the kids off at school and such - don't think it's suitable. Has an odd feel to it: the riding position is very upright like a cruiser, but the pedals are almost immediately under you like a road or mountain bike. Kinda like a European utility bike: not suitable for riding in traffic with aggressive motorists I think. Has all the utility bike features you could ask for. Love the belt drive - it's so cool: super quiet and no-hassles! Haven't been able to make it slip yet, but don't see how it's possible. Frame is notably light. Skinnier/lighter tires will probably greatly improve the ride. A great bike for someone who loves/needs to ride but doesn't want the maintenance hassles of a chain drive.

Comments about GT Aerostream Bike - 2009:
I was looking for a solid commuting bike for my four mile daily ride to work. Being over 50, was not looking for 21 speeds. The three speeds work for me with my reasonable number of moderate inclines. Still getting use to the belt drive. You cannot bear down as it will slip. You have to down shift and sometimes even in first gear it will still slip. This is what I was looking for and you would only be happy with this if you are commuting for moderate exercise and relaxation. You will not keep up with the big boys, but you will get to work safe and clean.

Comments about GT Aerostream Bike - 2009:
Purchased for casual riding and it seems to fit the bill. It is a bit awkward if you need to stand up and peddle. Even after tune up, the belt slips when torque is applied. It also sticks in 3rd gear and is very noisey and catches when shifting back down. I like the higher handlebars for arthritis problems. It's an okay cruiser but probably wouldn't buy another as the belt drive is not as quiet and smooth as advertised. The bike is a comfortable sit and looks very cool, but looks aren't everything.
