Lightweight and rattle-resistant, the REI Relief Shocklight trekking poles supply support and stability without disturbing the peace.

  • Shocklight shock absorbers weigh less than common spring-loaded poles and won't rattle within the shaft as you walk
  • Shock-absorbing poles reduce fatigue while improving stability; lockout mechanism creates a rigid pole when needed for more efficient climbing
  • DuoLock™ extra-strong internal locking mechanisms apply a wide area of pressure against pole walls to lock in length adjustment
  • Reliable DuoLocks enhance stability and make length adjustments easy
  • With the new Stop Lock system, poles won't come apart; system makes the pole sections into 1 unit for security and stability
  • Made from Titanal aluminum for durability; Titanal aluminum is one of the strongest aluminum alloys around and offers mechanical properties comparable to steel
  • 3-section telescoping poles extend to a maximum length of 55 inches and compact to 28 inches for easy storage and transport
  • Foam grips with an ergonomic, contoured shape are easy to hold; adjustable padded neoprene wrist straps add support
  • Extended grip length allows pole to be held low during short side hill traverses
  • Fitted with trekking discs and extra-durable tungsten carbide tips; included tip protectors are strictly for travel/packing protection, not intended for hiking

Comments about REI Relief Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:

After snubbing them for years, I finally broke down and bought my first pair of trekking poles this summer while hiking and camping out west. I was surprised, and pleased, at how well they facilitated making my hiking more enjoyable. They were easy to adjust for my first hike using them, from White Wolf to Ten Mile Lakes in Yosemite (twenty miles is a long day hike for me). The result was much less soreness in knees, hips, and ankles even though I ended up going a greater distance than I had originally planned. I felt so good as I progressed that I pushed the length. Uphills were easier, going down was much less stressful, and towards the end, as I became tired, the poles enabled me to travel more quickly and without brushing my soles over low-lying rocks (I attribute this to the poles). As I had not anticipated how the shocklight springs attribute might affect movement, the little extra spring (pun intended) in my step was a pleasant bonus. I find that I can go farther, more easily, and am less tired, especially towards the end of longer trails and climbs.

Comments about REI Relief Shocklight Trekking Poles - Pair:

I really like the added longer grip tape below the actual grip perfect for climbing up with out having to change the height you can just simply move your hand down instead. I was debating Leki's over these and after seeing 1) the price difference and 2) the added benefits of the REI ones i decided to go with them. Also the "REI brand" is made by Komperdell they are very very good trekking poles.
