The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
All the other reviewers are right. These were the best pants I had found. I'm 6'10", 260 lbs, 42 waist, 36 inseam. I have several pairs in 3 colors (yeah they quit selling the dark green). Well now they don't sell the 42 waist in the 36" inseam. Ex Officio did this too and now REI takes away my only option. How about remembering big, active people? More 36 inch inseam stuff in 42 & 44? How about bikes that hold more than 225 or 250 lbs? How about more packs in 22" or more lengths at reasonable prices?

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
I bought these pants to (1) reduce the weight of my luggage and (2) for travel around the Mediterranean Sea and to South Asia. The pants held up well, the pockets were fine. On the plane and indoors, the pants are fine. However, the fabric is a poor choice to wear in the hot sun. I found the ExOffico pants to be much more comfortable in direct sun.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
Note that this review speaks to the previous model. The current ad suggests some of this has been fixed.
I bought these pants for casual and impromptu hiking wear. They are lightweight and have a decent shape. However, the waistband rolls up easily because of their lightweight material and the fact that there's only five small belt loops. I cured this somewhat with a thick webbing belt.
With any weight in the pockets, the pants look odd and fall weirdly on the body. All the pockets, including the side-seam pockets, twist easily with anything in them.
My main beef with these pants were the hand pockets. More than once these pants would drop things out when I sat down. Recently I lost a treasured item, a gift I'd carried for more than ten years, all because I forgot to do my customary pocket-check every time I stood up in these pants. I cannot tell you how many times I had rescued my gear from the couch cushions, but this time I was out in the city. The new ad mentions this problem pocket problem specifically, and if it's really been addressed it would be a great improvement.
Many items I've bought recently from different makers have great fabric qualities but pitiful design, as if whomever is creating them never uses pockets. Gear makers must stop using ordinary fashion designers or at least get a real person with real things to carry to help with the design of features.
If these pants have really improved, you will know it this way. The pockets should all should be stitched so that they don't twist; the hand pockets should be shaped differently and a tad deeper; and there should be wider belt loops across the back. The belt loops in front should be thin so people can clip things there, but sufficiently close that the pants do not roll up or sag beneath the belt.
I would not recommend the previous version of these pants. I might give them a second try, but only once I make my way to an actual store to try them in person. That's my advice to anyone.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
I bought these in black ('shadow') and tan (mtn ash) for my teenage son before a cruise. They fit and wear well, dry quick, and the gusset let him do his Karate workouts. He even wore them on formal night.
In the store they were labeled with waist and length size, like levis. On line I don't see a choice for length... need to get more for the dad unit.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
The photo does not really do these pants justice. I bought these because they were cheap, lightweight, packable, and breathable, but I thought I was compromising on aesthetics. However, I was very pleased to find that they have a nice satin texture and do not hold wrinkles. So these are turning into my new favorite pants for casual wear as well as rock climbing and backpacking. I wish they also came in khaki and brown so I could justify buying two more pairs. (get on that REI!) Lastly, I like that the bottoms are decently wide, almost boot cut.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
I recently wore these pants while day hiking in northwest Wyoming with my father. A couple of miles into the hike, we were surprised by a thunder storm. Because we didn't get to hike as long as intended, we decided to take a new route back to the truck. Long story short, we got rimrocked in a creek bottom and found ourselves bush whacking for a couple of miles.
The REI Adventure pants suffered the most abuse I've ever given a pair of pants, and they held up great. From climbing over downed timber to crossing the creek umpteen times to blindly wading through thick willows, I put these pants to the test. The only noticeable damage is some tree sap on the back side that didn't come off in the wash; no rips or tears anywhere.
So far, I have been very impressed with these pants.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
I work in places were everyone wears "tactical" pants, and they standout. I purchased these pants to see if they matched the properties of other companies "covert" pants (meaning they moved the cargo pockets to zippered pockets long the trouser seam).
They travel well and can take decent punishment. I wore them to the office with a shirt and tie, then went hiking in them in the afternoon at Joshua Tree. That night I rinsed them in the shower, hung them up and they were ready to go the next morning for a day at the range.
Wile comfort is objective, these are very comfortable to me. They have the same feeling and weight as the year round washable wool trousers that I have, but they breath better and are much more durable
Side pockets are better then the side pocket on the the Endeavor pant because I can use one hand to open and close the zipper. Could be deeper, but they are still good to go.
A few recommended changes would be to expand the belt loops to accommodate a 1 3/4" belt and to add reinforcement to the front pocket edges to allow for a pocket knife clip.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
Good product. Very comfortable and almost dressy. Really, a nice pair of pants for travel, particularly in the summer.
But what happened to the 42" waist? One of REI's biggest problems (no pun intended) has been Big and Tall offerings. They have usually only offered some selections with REI products. And now they seem to be cutting back there. Yes, I recognize that we are a small market, but we need gear too.

These pants are great, initially bought them for hiking but I find myself wearing them all the time. Plan on buying more.

Comments about REI Adventures Pants - Men's 36" Inseam:
I originally purchased these pants (2) because they were packable, light and dryed quickly, and most importantly they come in a 36" inseam. I just returned from a month's trip to southern Africa and these pants performed exceptionally well for me. Not only do they meet the objective but they even have a very nice look between casual and a bit dressier. I had no issues described in the previous review and am going to order two more as soon as I finish this review. My only wish at this point is that more colors are available.
