The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I previously reviewed this product and gave it two stars, due to the fact that it kept coming apart at the seams. I took it back to REI, and as usual they were very nice and gave me no hastle about returning it. I was unsure if I would replace this product with the same thing or look for something different. However, my mind was made up quickly when I saw the chair in the store. Since I purchased the chair, REI changed the design. In the place where the seams had come apart twice before, it is now a solid piece of material. Due to this change, I don't think that my previous problem will reoccur. I'm glad to see that REI looked at the faults in the product, and made appropriate changes to fix it. As previously stated, this chair is extremely comfortable, and will continue to come with me on future backpacking and river trips.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I bought this chair before a week long hike in the Grand Canyon earlier this year. It is definitely worth its weight in gold! Pretty much after day one the rest of my group was enviously eyeing my "recliner" while trying to find the most comfortable rock.
The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is the fiberglass stays/frame could be a little stronger. However I do understand that making chairs, such as this one, lightweight for backpacking heavy duty stays can be sacrificed for the weight.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I've used this on river trips and backpacking trips, and love having the chair with me. It is extremely comfortable, lightweight and easy bring along. The stays seem durable and it supports me well. However, I have had trouble with it coming apart at the seams. I am on my second chair, and have had the same experience both times. It's not the fabric that is tearing, but the stitching is not holding up. I'm not sure if I'll give round three a try, or look for something else.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
This is a really comfy chair. The only issue is that one of the seams where the cinch straps meets the chair is ripping out. I've only used the chair a handful of times, and I'm a lightweight, so this chair is definitely going back to REI.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I have 3 of these, and they have been repeatedly used and abused, mainly on river trips in oar-powered rafts. Overall, they are both durable and useful--very valuable equipment. They have provided heroic service as the oarsperson's seat, where they are subjected to terrific stresses. The straps have held out fine, although I managed to rip the seam on one of the handles by accidentally jumping on the seat the floor of the boat it when it was still strapped to the raft frame. .We've also been using these seats recently on backpacking trips. They are light, fit easily in front stretch pockets when folded in half, and are even useful as pillows for sleeping. When not using my seat for sitting or as a pillow, I use it as a wind break for my canister stove. Sounds like good multipurpose gear to me!

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
Cushioned seat and back support without adding too much weight to the pack. Since buying one of these last year I have recommended them to several friends and bought them for the whole family. Everybody is happy. The quality problems mentioned in other reviews haven't been an issue for anyone in my circle, so maybe REI has re-designed to fix previous problems. I am online buying one more for the Shakespeare in da park this weekend, and thought I would offer a review in support of this product. Great + inexpensive.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I've owned mine for a year or two. I usually only day hike so I haven't used it on the trail. I've mostly used it around the house, on the deck, watching sports, etc. It's comfortable, it's reliable, I like it.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I purchased this product on for an annaul 50 Mile Canoeing Trip on Current River, MO that me and the guys have been on for 10 years. Specifcally I really needed an affordable and comfortable canoe seat that offered lower-back support for both times spent paddling on the river as well as for at camp in the evenings.
I chose the REI Trail Chair becuase of the price however it failed to meet my other needs in the following ways:
1) No Cushioning support in the seat, "sank down in-between the two parallel support bars and required an extra canoe pad underneath for comfort"
2) Support straps provided limited back support/no lumbar support "back support seemed flimsy"
3) Support straps limited rowing movement and rubbed against the skin on my upper-sides causing chaffing
4) No bottom strap attachements for the canoe seat, "I had to tie it down with cord to keep it from sliding around while paddling"
I am an avid river camper and would suggest spending a bit more on an alternative product that will meet your specific needs. Trust me the extra $20 bucks go a long way.

Comments about REI Trail Chair:
I have previously owned the Crazy Creek chair and this one from REI is just as good. I'm 6'2" tall and 160 lbs. and it works fine for me. I use it both at home and on the trail. I read some complaints about seams stitching coming loose, but haven't had that problem myself. Maybe I have a newer/improved version.
