With downtown sensibilities, cross-town capabilities and enough style to break free of the rank and file, the Swobo Novak 3-speed bike is a ride capable of getting you around town.

  • Butted CroMo steel frame provides the legendary smooth ride of steel with a relaxed geometry that offers increased comfort
  • SRAM i-Motion 3-speed internal gear rear hub features 3 handy gears for getting around town; shifting is a breeze with a simple turn of the twist shifter
  • Truvativ Isoflow crankset is outfitted with platform pedals and a full-length chainguard to keep clothing from getting caught up in the chain
  • Tektro long-reach caliper brakes ensure controlled deceleration and also offer plenty of clearance for fenders (sold separately)
  • Fast 700c wheels are outfitted with puncture-resistant Vittoria Randonneur tires that feature a reflective strip on sidewalls for increased visibility
  • Custom Swobo saddle, stem, handlebar, grips and other goodies round out the package
  • Other super-sweet features include a seatpost-integrated tail light and a locking front quick-release
  • Eyelets let you outfit your rig with fenders and rear rack (sold separately) for ultimate urban utility
  • Specs are subject to change

After an initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Swobo Novak Bike - 2009:

I love everything about this bike; the steel frame and fork, the fender and rack ready frame, and the upright riding position. The only problem I had the first time I rode it was that the rear hub broke under stress from riding up hill. I shifted into the easiest gear, stood up on the pedals for extra torque, and then heard a loud pop! Now the bike is stuck in the easiest gear and needs to be serviced or maybe replaced. I wasn't putting any unusual stress on the hub whatsoever... I hope nobody else has this problem.

Comments about Swobo Novak Bike - 2009:

I love this bike. I bought it for it's simple style and comfortable riding position. I must admit that I was worried that the 3-speed hub was not enough, but after months of daily riding it has turned out to be not only rugged, but has enough range to get up and down most hills just fine. It's a great lightweight cruiser.
