Comments about Garmin eTrex Legend H GPS:
Nice entry gps for those looking for a model for hiking/geocaching. The base map is the bare minimum, but free maps can be found and downloaded from the internet. Satellite acquisition was fair intially, but with continued use, it picks up the signal more quickly. Only drawback is the inability to add more memory.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Legend H GPS:
An awful GPS. It takes forever to get a your location at the top of a hill. Around trees or buildings, you probably won't get a reading at all, of you will have to play a walking "Statue of Liberty". When you get a location, it keeps bouncing. The map is OK, but the screen's contrast is awful. This is generally NOT a reliable or even useful GPS. Even the comm with the computer is a pain. Forget this GPS!

Comments about Garmin eTrex Legend H GPS:
I have had the etrex legend since 2005;it has replaced my cycling computer.
From my experience, it is completely the opposite of what the August 3 reviewer said. Either he has a faulty unit, or is biased against Garmin.
On several occasions I have been cycling in some fairly heavy wooded areas and the gps has maintained signal.

Comments about Garmin eTrex Legend H GPS:
I've had this unit for a couple of years now and I use it for everything from snow shoeing to backpacking to geocaching. Like most GPS units, it has trouble getting a signal between tall buildings and in heavily wooded areas. I would highly recommend this as an entry level unit - it does all the basic stuff I need it to do and it's simple to use.
