I took this towel as my only towel on a 9 week road trip and it was great. It was absorbent, dried much faster than a cotton towel, and didn't smell even after being rolled up damp and crammed in my pack all day. It didn't really dry in the pack, but it didn't get gross and smelly either, and it dried quickly once it was out in the air. I did wash it a few times, but it could go a long time without being washed. It feels sort of weird and snaggy on dry skin, but for drying off wet skin it's really soft.

I've tried everything out there and these are the best I've ever had. You are dry in an instant (compared to some brands that don't work at all)! Size wise, a medium will work for shower and is great for hand towel, but if needed for hair-after-shampoo, I'd recommend a larger size. They pack small. Also, there is a snap on the hook which is a BIG help.

I love this towel for camping! It's too heavy and big for backpacking (prefer an MSR towel for that), but when weight and space aren't as big a factor, I always bring this towel. The smaller one is great for your camp kitchen as well. I've also given it as a gift to my more adventurous friends. It is soft, super-absorbent, never stinks, and dries very quickly. You won't be disappointed!
