Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool - Special Buy:
I got to use this stool for 2 weeks while house sitting a bare apartment. It's more comfortable with a little padding -folded towel/small pillow. I'm sure it'll work great at outdoor events.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool - Special Buy:
Works great around a campsite when you don't want to sit on the ground, when fishing from a bank, etc. Lots of other uses for short-term sitting. Not great for extended sitting but I didn't expect it to be. The nice thing is that you can easily have it there when you wouldn't have lugged a bigger, heavier chair.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool - Special Buy:
Have read reviews about these not being comfortable, to short etc. But for backpacking, kayak camping ,they are better than sitting on the ground all day. I was surprised and please to see how small they fold up to, and just as happy at how well they were built. Yes they are not as comfortable as a Lazyboy recliner but fit much easier into your kayak / backpack. Would have paid more for them.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool - Special Buy:
Liked it. Like all of Alps's stuff: fairly rugged and a little too heavy for a backpacker.
I use it all the time while camping. It proves it's versatility as I use mine in the shop when crouching down is a pain and I don't want to sit on concrete.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Tri-Leg Stool - Special Buy:
I've seen several people with this type of camp stool from different manufacturers and all have liked the style and comfort. I saw this at REI-Outlet.com and could not pass up on the deal.
It is almost identical to the REI Trail Stool with REI's having an advantage in the strap around the feet. The ALPS is riveted and the REI slides. This puts a little stress on the webbing.
It is comfortable for my 180lb frame and really beats a sitting pad in the long term. Although it only weighs a pound, it is one more thing to strap on to the outside of your pack.
If REI gets another special buy of this stool, I'm going to get a few more for gifts.
