Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
I have used this bag twice since receiving it several weeks ago and am so glad I bought it. Both trips have been in temps between 25F and 35F, and I was almost too warm wearing just long johns in the bag. The draw string works very well at the head to keep the ventilation hole to the desired size. The zipper does snag easily, but after reading the reviews of others, I knew to just be careful with it. Also, unless you have good traction underneath you, this bag will cause you to slide easily. I found that the bag compresses down even better than what the description says in the compression sac, to 13x8inches, but takes a good 5min's or more to do so.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
An all around great bag. So far, I have used this bag three times. twice in warm temperatures and once on a snow camping trip. All three times it performed very well. the only negative comments I have are that the zipper is prone to snagging and it takes a few minutes to get it into the compression sack. However, once in the sack it can be compressed down to a size slightly larger than a coffee can. In all I am very impressed with this bag.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
Rarely feel so compelled to write a review. Long bag is very roomy, fits my 6'4" frame great with room to spare. Temps into 20's in the North Cascades with lightweight baselayer were no problem, I even took off my socks! First bag I've owned where I haven't just been warm enough, I've been comfortable. Lightweight, especially for its roomy size. Packs small, had no problem fitting this and two man tent with weekend supplies into my 34 ltr weekend bag. Best value out there, I think.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
I absolutely love this bag! I'm a big guy, so I bought the "wide" version (2" shorter and 2" wider than the Tall version). It still weighs in under 3.5 pounds, and packs down pretty small, making it is great for 3-season backpacking use (4 season if you have proper under-layers). The zipper baffle keeps me from getting that "yikes, that's cold" jolt when I roll over on the zipper, and the extra width means I can actually hike a knee up when I'm sleeping or put my socks on while still in the bag! And to top it off, it comes with a REAL stuff sack with REAL straps that don't rip off the first time you cinch them down!

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
Got it on a recent "Deal of the Day" sale. At that price I thought I would give it a try and if it wasn't worthwhile, I'd give it away to a friend. I used it for several days in ~30 degrees and was very warm just sleeping in a tee shirt and shorts. It is quite roomy for a mummy bag. The zipper does snag a bit but if you pay close attention, it works okay. It isn't too hard getting it back in the compression sack, Just fold bag in half, roll TIGHT, kneel on it and slide the sack over it and cinch it down. Only took about 2 minutes. Strong cinch straps as previously noted.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
Look this is a great sleeping bag if you are a normal camper with not too much gear. However, if you are an adventurer, such as a climber on a climbing trip, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE! This sleeping bag is a bargain, but it is too big to fit into a 30 lts. bag and not occupying one third of the space!
When you are packing it into the sack, you need patience because it can take you about 15 minutes to fit it in.
Its more than warm, so if you are in a chili night, you are more than safe there.
It might be better if you could go to the store and have a look at the other bags, see what fits you best.
If you are buying this because you have no other choice like me (living in BOGOTA, COLOMBIA), then you can give it a try accounting what I have just said.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
I have really love this sleeping bag. I have only used it a couple of times but it has worked great!!! I did get a little too warm for desert summer camping, but zipping it all the way down seemed to help give some air. I read the the zipper snagged easily, so I am careful to not snag and I haven't had any problems. I also read that it was hard to get back into the compact bag it comes in, but I have stuffed it back in a couple of time and haven't had any problems. It is great, it even did a good job of keeping the sand out of the bag during a horrible wind storm. I would definitely purchase this again!

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 Sleeping Bag - Long - Special Buy:
I used this bag on a four day trip this last June. We were rained on for 2 days straight but the temperatures averaged in the 40s and 50s at night. This bag was a little too warm for those temps but worked very well.
