After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I just brought the bike home a couple of hours ago . I only rode 4 miles but it was such a great difference from my old 10 speed bike. I had a quick start off, easily reaching a speed of 26 mph and maintaining it.
The gears were easy to use. The handlebar reach was just right for me, a 5'6 woman. It doesn't seem to matter that the bike isn't specifically for women , it works.
I haven't ridden enough to find flaws, but I'm pretty darned pleased so far.

I've had this bike for about 4 months-- so far, so good. It has been great for riding around town and for riding on dirt trails. I would say it's perfect for the casual/weekend bicyclist. It's not going to win any races or take you down a serious mountain trail, but it's a comfortable bike for those weekend rides or riding to and from work on city streets. I did need to take it back to REI for a couple of "adjustments" to fix shifting, but I hope that was just because of the breaking-in period. I would recommend this bike.
